Her face turned red as Tristan continued lean to her. Her heart was beating so fast, all the old memories of the two of them replaying in her mind.
However, Evelyne's instincts woke her up instantly and pushed him away.
"What are you trying to do? That's disrespectful and not professional at all," she said firmly.
Tristan, who was somewhat surprised that Evelyn pushed him away, immediately covered his surprise by being cool and calm.
He straightened the suit he was wearing and then looked at her. "You're right, we shouldn't have done that."
She immediately turned her face away, not wanting to look at him while trying to calm down. She hated herself so much, because things like that made her think back to the past.
She didn't want to recall all those memories from him.
"If you have nothing more to say, I'll go back to my desk."
Before she left, Tristan called her and told her that what he did earlier was nothing special. But he was just reminding Evelyne of her position in his company.
"Don't you think I want you anymore by doing that. I didn't take what I threw away."
She was silent as she held the doorknob and answered without turning her head. "I know."
Without saying anything else, she left Tristan's office and closed the door behind her. She cursed herself, but she knew there was no point in continuing to say that.
That afternoon she went back to work as usual, sitting at her desk at the front of his office.
Every now and then he would call out to her, giving her a job that must have been quite demanding and required Evelyne to run around the company building.
"I finally got the report he wanted. It's lunchtime soon, is he really going to keep me on at this hour?" she muttered.
When she reached Tristan's office, she knocked on the door and he let her in.
As soon as she walked in, she saw him sitting with a woman on his lap. A beautiful woman with wavy blonde hair, blue eyes and a body that looked absolutely ideal.
Evelyne felt she had seen that woman somewhere, but she couldn't remember.
"Is she your new secretary?" the woman asked when she saw Evelyn walking in.
He nodded his head. "Right, this is Evelyn, my new secretary."
The woman stood up from his lap and walked over to her.
"Hello Evelyn, my name is Victoria. I am Tristan's fiancée," she said kindly.
"Victoria? Oh are you Victoria Sanchez. The model who was being talked about," said Evelyne who finally remembered who she was.
"Right, that's me. Nice to meet you, Evelyne." She extended her hand and shook hands with Evelyne.
The woman had no idea that the beautiful model was a very kind and friendly woman.
'She turned out to be very friendly. He's a billionaire, his company is very successful. Even has a beautiful and famous fiancée. Now his life looks perfect,' Evelyne thought at the time.
"So from now on I want you to remember my fiancé, Evelyne. Because soon we will be married," said Tristan who stood up from his chair and walked over to them.
His arm pulled Victoria's waist closer to him and kissed her on the lips. She chuckled and told him not to kiss her in front of Evelyne because she didn't want to make Evelyne feel uncomfortable.
However, Tristan didn't care and he kissed Victoria's neck right in front of her.
For a moment he glanced at Evelyne to see her reaction. But the woman was just silent without showing any expression.
He was expecting a reaction of jealousy or annoyance when she saw it.
"This is the report you wanted, sir. Is there anything else you need?" She asked, maintaining her professionalism.
He released Victoria and straightened his suit jacket. "Nothing. You may return to your desk until I give you your next assignment."
"Yes, sir." She bowed slightly and left Tristan's office.
The man's eyes continued to stare at the door. Watching her leave without saying anything else or showing the reaction he wanted.
"She seems very kind and loyal," Victoria commented with a chuckle.
"Yes, she is... She is."
Without Victoria knowing about her fiancé's past relationship with the secretary. Tristan recalled the incident six years ago when he pointed angrily at Evelyn's face.
Accusing her of cheating on him.
Flashback
"I was busy taking care of my failing company. But you're cheating on me with your friend?!" he snapped while pointing at Evelyne's face.
Evelyne shook her head. She stared at Tristan as if she couldn't believe he was accusing her of that.
"No! That's not true. I'm not cheating on you. Especially with Daniel! He's just an old friend of mine, Tristan! I only chose you!" she said through her tears and held his wrists.
Begging him to believe her. However, instead of believing her, the dark haired man pushed Evelyne away.
"Don't you dare try to make me trust you again. Because I can't trust you anymore!"
He raised his hand, intending to slap her. However, Tristan decided against it because he still had feelings for his wife.
The woman he had fallen in love with since high school. Although he doubted whether Evelyne was really cheating on him or not. But his anger had peaked after he heard some people talking about Evelyne and Daniel.
"I want us to divorce," he said.
Evelyne, who loved Tristan very much, tried to stop her husband's wish. She crawled to her feet and begged him not to make such a decision.
However, his mind was made up and he wasn't going to hold back on this.
Flashback End
'Could it be that what she said back then was true? She... Didn't really cheat on me and it was all just a misunderstanding?' he thought as he began to doubt himself.
However, when he saw Evelyne's reaction of not feeling jealous when he kissed Victoria, it made Tristan think that his ex wife must have forgotten him.
'Or maybe after the divorce... She could freely be with Daniel? That's why she no longer loves me?'
Tristan was lost in his own thoughts, ignoring Victoria who was standing next to him.
Likewise, Evelyne sat silently in her chair, staring at the lit monitor screen but doing nothing.
Time seemed to stand still, letting fate tell the truth.
