The women in my home were acting up. I had listened to and heard all the complaints, and I was beginning to wonder if what Iris had told me about my family was true. If they were arguing with Lara, whom they liked so much, then what about Iris? They had liked her too in the past.
However, I could not really expect them to react to Lara the same way they had reacted to Iris, because Lara was someone who constantly argued. In this matter, Lara was wrong. She was raising the right questions for all the wrong reasons.
"I want to see my father before we go to work," Iris requested, and I walked her to the guest house.
The children were a little hesitant around those people now, but I noticed they were far more attentive and responsive to Iris's father than to their mother. They rushed in and hugged him. He was sitting on the couch, looking sad.
I stayed at the door, watching them interact.
