Davina's POV
I stopped dead in my tracks, my gaze locked on the scene unfolding before me.
I hadn't planned to follow them, but some inexplicable force had driven my feet forward the instant I spotted that black-clad figure being hauled from the vehicle.
My heart pounded against my ribs as I crouched behind the parked cars, maintaining distance while keeping them in view.
Something felt wrong.
This wasn't a simple escort.
This looked like an abduction.
My hands were already slick with sweat, my breathing shallow as I stalked behind them, every footstep calculated, every movement weighted with terror.
Every instinct told me to flee, to race home to Cooper, but my curiosity—or perhaps something darker—anchored me to this path.
The wind caught the woman's veil, and my pulse spiked when it finally dropped away.
My eyes went wide.
Louise Jenkin.
A sharp intake of breath caught in my throat, a trembling gasp nearly escaping before I clamped my hand over my mouth.
