Davina's POV
I peeled my eyes open slowly, my lashes sticking together from dried tears. The gentle light filtering through the room told me it wasn't morning yet, though it was getting late.
When my vision cleared, the first thing I saw was my brother's face hovering above mine.
"You're awake," Chase said quietly, relief and concern mixing in his voice.
I blinked several times, trying to figure out where I was. I realized I was now lying on the couch with a soft blanket draped loosely over me.
"How long was I unconscious?" I asked, my voice scratchy.
"Not long," Chase answered. "About an hour."
My heartbeat had settled now. The panic that had seized me earlier had eased, though it still lurked in the shadows, ready to resurface. I remained still for a moment, getting used to the silence.
My gaze wandered to the floor, and I saw it was completely clean. No trace of the glass I'd shattered earlier. Chase must have tidied up while I was out.
