I practically floated home, spinning through the front door with laughter bubbling up from somewhere deep inside me.
For the first time in ages, that crushing weight wasn't pressing down on my chest—no fear, no doubt strangling my breath.
I landed the job. The actual job. And not just anywhere—at NEXUS.
A squeal escaped my lips as I threw my hands skyward like some kid who just unwrapped the perfect birthday gift. "I got the damn job!" I yelled to my empty living room, twirling until I felt dizzy.
I bounced toward the kitchen, nearly wiping out on the slick tiles but catching myself with another laugh.
Tears pricked my eyes—the good kind, the overwhelming rush of pure happiness that made my vision blur as I gripped the counter, gazing out at nothing through the window.
I did it.
I actually pulled it off.
