**A Whirlwind of Nerves**
Anxiety coursed through me as I sat in silence, my fingers clutching my bag's strap while names echoed through the waiting area.
With each announcement, the tension in the room intensified. Candidates fidgeted with their attire, pulled their shoulders back, and muttered silent hopes under their breath.
I fought to keep my composure intact.
A deep breath in, a slow release out. This was merely a job interview, not a battlefield—though my racing pulse suggested otherwise.
Then I heard it. "Davina Hughes."
My pulse stuttered. My stomach clenched. I rose on unsteady legs, but I managed to find my balance and painted on a courteous smile.
An assistant by the entrance gave me a brief nod and guided me toward another room. My heartbeat thundered in my ears.
When the assistant pushed open the interview room door, I stepped inside and the atmosphere immediately grew thick.
