I snatch my hand back as if her touch burns me, the metal keychain digging painfully into my palm.
"You should pack your things by tomorrow and get the hell out of his house," Angelica says, her voice light and airy, as if she's discussing the weather.
I narrow my eyes as I clench my fist around the key chain. I am not stupid enough to believe what Angelica says. I know exactly who she is; she is just as scheming as our mother. Every word that leaves her mouth is calculated.
Angelica smiles, stepping closer. "Sister, you have done me a great service, and I appreciate you taking my place as Vega's temporary wife."
I feel my blood run cold, my entire body going tense. The air seems to leave my lungs. What did she mean by that? What did she mean by taking her place?
