Chapter 5 - 5. Black Lion guild

Lucius stared at the mirror on the wall, dumbfounded. His reflection had just spoken to him.

He stood up, only to see the reflection smiling at him.

"Hehehe, you should've seen your reaction." The reflection spoke again, but this time with a different voice—one that he recognized.

The image in the mirror soon changed, morphing and swirling to produce another image.

"You..." Lucius took a step forward.

It was the red-haired goddess who had brought him back into this world and given him the altered system.

"Hehehe, won't you cover yourself up? You're practically naked." The goddess giggled, covering her mouth.

She looked forward to seeing Lucius still glaring at her, not moving.

"What was with all those useless quests with penalties? So you want to kill me?" Lucius glared at her, lowering his voice to make sure no one heard him in here.

"Why are you looking at me like you hate me? I was only trying to help you. The basic characteristic of a villain is being heartless." The goddess raised her chin, making Lucius pinch the bridge of his nose.

'God, what have I gotten myself into.' He sighed, looking back at her with an emotionless gaze. 'Anything, as long as I have a chance to kill him.'

"You sound like someone who just watched a stupid movie." He shook his head.

"Ahem..." The goddess blushed, making Lucius grit his teeth.

He would have looked completely calm and composed if it wasn't for the veins on his forehead popping.

The goddess was really a crazy person. There were a lot of questions Lucius had to ask her about the system, and about himself.

"Were you the one leaving all those comments under the system messages?" He asked his first question with a straight face.

He felt like he already knew the answer to this.

"Yes, it was me."

Lucius sighed.

"My second question—what is this attribute 'Star of Ruin'? I came into contact with a strange entity?" He asked, making the goddess look at him with a sharp gaze.

"I can't tell you everything about it, but I can tell you one thing. One thing that you have always been curious about." The goddess looked nervous, staring at Santiaga.

She raised her finger and pointed at him.

"That attribute is what made your life this way. It brings ruin to those around you, and to yourself," she said to him with a serious tone.

'So everything... happened because of some curse. I'm not actually unlucky, I'm not a cursed child.' Lucius held a gaze of longing as he reminisced about his life.

Peace had always been far away from him. Loneliness had been a factor in his life since he was a child. If he tried to make friends, something would happen to them to make them hate him. Same with his parents. They loved him at first, but he wasn't even ten when his mother tried to kill him.

"Well, whatever. I have a skill that I can't access its information. What is it?"

He blinked.

This was one of the things he had been curious about since he came into this world. The skill had been with him since day one, but he couldn't use it, nor could he activate it or see its info.

Even if it was the most powerful skill in the universe, an unseeable skill was a useless one.

"I don't know." The goddess smiled.

Lucius looked stunned, staring at the goddess with a frown.

"What do you mean you don't know?" His lips twitched. "You're a goddess—"

"Oops, my time is almost up here. I have to go back." She said, looking frightened for some reason.

'The fuck?'

"One thing I can tell you though—all the questions you have, and everything you're confused about. You'll know soon. Grow stronger, Lucius." The goddess blew a kiss toward him, and with that, he was looking at his reflection in the mirror once more.

Lucius kept quiet, carrying his thoughts to the bathtub and laying in it.

He sighed, looking up at the ceiling.

"What should a man like me do to survive in this world?" He asked, targeting himself with a question.

The question had a simple answer—an answer that he hadn't been able to access before he died.

Power.

Great power.

That was the only way he would be able to live and trample upon his enemies.

'I don't want to trample over them. I want to kill.'

...

A while later, Lucius came out of the bathroom with a calm look on his face, and a towel around his waist.

On the bed was a pair of clothes, and a meal was on the table with a note.

He walked over to the clothes, putting them on. And then to the table of food...

He picked it up and put it on the ground, spraying his dirty clothes on the ground. He poured the food on it and wrapped it, throwing it away in a bin close by.

Then he poured the drinks away and walked out of the room.

{Thank you for saving me today.}

Lucius sighed, looking at the piece of paper in his hand.

The hotel they were in definitely wasn't ordinary. It was one that mostly heroes went to, as he could see a lot of luxury cars stopping by.

So the fact that an entire living room was connected to the room wasn't surprising at all.

An exquisite place had to have a difference from an ordinary one.

'I hope I don't get caught up in anything. The next thing to do now would be to get registered as a hero.'

'The Hero Agency and the Church are the biggest hero organizations with knowledge on heroes. If I want to find Jeff, I'll have to join one of them.'

Lucius finally arrived at the living room. He was stunned to see an elderly man in a grey suit sitting on a couch comfortably, with Elizabeth behind him.

Instantly, a flood of negative emotions washed over him. The air in front of him began to vibrate, and he stood still.

It was almost too much.

Fear, hatred, disgust, pity...

Lucius stayed calm, allowing his vision to settle.

Hatred and disgust were coming from the three members of Team Virgo, and the pity was coming from the elderly man.

And Elizabeth was... afraid?

~This dog messed up the plan?

Lucius' gaze went to the elderly man again, who just stood up from his seat, walking over to him.

Lucius smiled.

"Hello there, sir. It's a pleasure to meet you."
