Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Defeat?

Baki grunted as he stood up. He saw a blond-haired man walking toward him. "This guy is strong!"

The blond-haired man approached Baki and asked, "Yo, kid~ There was supposed to be an old man with a girl here. Where did they run off to?"

Baki answered with a punch to his face, but the man dodged. The man laughed. "You're quite the feisty one, kid. What's your name? By the way, I'm Guile."

But Baki didn't answer. Instead, he performed a roundhouse kick aimed at Guile's chin. Guile moved his head back slightly and managed to dodge it. Then Guile turned for a brief second and executed a leaping back-spin kick. Baki grabbed his leg mid-flight and swung him back.

Guile flipped mid-air and landed on his feet. Suddenly, Baki disappeared from his sight and appeared in front of him with an overhand punch. Guile dodged the punch and performed a spinning high kick, sending Baki flying back again.

Baki flipped mid-air and landed on his feet. He wiped the blood from his lips. Then he started skipping, a mad grin spreading across his face. "Finally! I'm starting to enjoy this!"

Guile was weirded out by this. But before he could move, Baki vanished from his spot again. A punch connected with his ribs. He managed to raise his arms in guard, but the impact sent him flying back like a broken kite. He crashed into a pillar.

Before he could get up, Baki appeared in front of him, throwing a flurry of punches. He crossed his arms in guard. When Baki finally stopped, Guile moved behind him and grabbed him. Guile then lifted Baki over his head and slammed him shoulders and back-first into the ground.

Baki was stunned. Guile rushed at Baki again and performed a jumping knee strike. Baki stopped Guile's knee with his palm. The impact skidded him backward. Guile said, "Kid, you can't win. Tell me where the old man and girl are. I'll let you go."

Baki laughed. "You're gonna let me go? Being delusional isn't a good thing, fucker!"

Guile rushed at Baki, performing a low kick followed by a short hook to Baki's head. Then Guile wrapped his arm around Baki's upper chest and neck. He swung his arm around, driving Baki to the ground. Then he tried to step over Baki. Baki rolled at the last moment and got up.

Baki jumped in the air and performed a 540 kick. Guile closed his arms in guard, but the impact sent him skidding backward. Baki pressed on with a lead uppercut to the chin, stumbling Guile backward again.

Baki vanished from his spot and appeared near Guile with a rear hook. Guile managed to dodge at the last moment, but the attack grazed his chin. For a moment, everything went black for Guile. Baki performed a sweeping hip throw, slamming Guile into the ground and creating a crater.

Guile immediately rolled back and got up. He rushed to Baki, grabbed him, and pulled him over his shoulder, causing Baki to slam onto the ground on his back. Baki also got up, rushed to Guile, and performed a major hip throw.

Guile rolled back and dropped down into a crouching kick to Baki's legs, following up with a downward punch to Baki's chin. Guile followed with a stationary, upside-down kick, sending Baki tumbling back. Then Guile extended his arm out and clubbed across Baki's head using the back of his fist, finishing with a downward punch.

Baki crashed into a wall. His mind was in confusion. Suddenly, he felt an instinctive danger. He immediately twisted to the side. Guile appeared at that spot with a punch. Guile threw a flurry of punches. Baki didn't know how, but his body started to move before he could even think. Just as Baki was about to counterattack, the feeling vanished, and a straight punch connected with his face, sending him stumbling backward.

Baki tried to focus again to achieve that state, but he couldn't recapture the feeling. Guile delivered a low kick to Baki and followed with a short hook to Baki's head. Guile extended his arm out and clubbed across Baki's head using the back of his fist.

Baki's eyes rolled back as he stood still. Guile released a breath. "Tch! What a bastard!"

Baki entered a state of uniqueness. He felt his whole body start to grow warmer. Slowly, all the pain started to wash away.

Guile started to walk away. Suddenly, Baki came up behind Guile and grabbed him. Baki then lifted Guile over his head and slammed him shoulders and back-first into the ground.

"My attack?! Did he copy it?" Guile thought as pain rushed through his body. He got up and saw Baki skipping.

Baki himself was astonished. "What is this feeling?" He felt as if all his pain was melting away and an unknown pleasure was erupting within his body. In the past, he had studied the human body. There was only one thing that could possibly explain this. His body was secreting massive amounts of endorphins—natural, opioid-like peptides produced by the body that act as pain relievers and can produce feelings of well-being and pleasure.

Guile rushed Baki and performed a downward punch. Baki, who was lost in his thoughts, didn't even notice Guile coming. His body dodged the punch automatically. There was only one thing Baki could conclude: Instinctive Action. Instinctive Action is the ability to act without the need for conscious thought.

Baki placed Guile in a guillotine choke while standing and fell backward, smashing Guile's face into the ground. Baki locked one of Guile's legs in an extremely painful position, with one of Baki's legs extended between Guile's calf and thigh, wrapping the foot of that leg between Baki's own calf and thigh at the ankle, and his other leg pressed down on the locked leg on top of the thigh to maintain the hold, creating a figure-four with his legs. From there, Baki restrained the remaining leg with one of his hands.

"Aaaarghhh!"

A raw scream tore from Guile's throat. But Baki kept pressing until foam formed at Guile's mouth. Then Baki released his hold and turned onto his back, staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, it felt like someone had opened the dam to pain in his body. Immense pain coursed through him. But his grin never left his face.
