Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Attack!

"Old man, are you sure about letting him follow those two?" Baki asked Hansu Seong.

Hansu Seong asked back, "Why? He is her father, after all."

Baki shook his head. "That's the problem—he is her father. I can clearly tell that Minji likes that boy. And with how young kids are nowadays, I'm afraid Manager Kim won't be able to stop himself if something slightly out if proportion happened between them."

Cold sweat ran down Hansu Seong's back as he thought of the consequences if something even slightly inappropriate occurred between them. He gave a nervous laugh. "A-At least he won't kill the boy outright, right...?"

Baki shrugged, then pondered for a moment.

Hansu asked, "What happened? What are you thinking?"

Baki replied with a serious expression, "Old man, don't you think all this is a bit suspicious? I mean, did the boy have to choose their date on the same day Manager Kim returned? This could be a coincidence, but don't you find it strange that the boy called him 'father' just after meeting him for the first time? Also, I heard Minji mention this kid transferred at the same time as her. It all feels like too much to be a coincidence."

Hearing this, Hansu Seong nodded. "If you think about it that way, it does feel very suspicious. It's good that he followed them, then."

Baki shook his head. "No, if someone wanted to make a move against Minji, they would have done it when Mr. Kim was busy with missions. But they specifically chose to wait until Mr. Kim returned."

Hansu Seong was about to say something, but the doorbell rang.

Ding... dong...

Both Hansu Seong and Baki became alert. Hansu Seong slowly approached the door and opened it slightly to see who was outside. It wasn't an enemy or stranger—for some reason, Minji had returned alone.

Hansu Seong asked, "Where is your father, Minji?"

Minji had a nervous expression. "Dad sent me back, saying he wanted to drop off Sunbae. Ajusshi, do you think Dad is upset with me for going to the movie with Sunbae?"

Hansu Seong patted her head and said with a smile, "Your dad is just worried about you, Minji. You know how your dad's situation is, right? He's always worrying about you."

---

Time passed, but Manager Kim didn't return. Baki said, "We should check it out. It seems there's indeed something suspicious going on."

Hansu Seong shook his head. "He's a guy who can take care of himself. And I can't leave Minji behind. I promised him I would protect her."

Ding... dong...

Suddenly the doorbell rang once again. Baki said, "Old man, it's getting too suspicious now. I can sense more than one person outside the door."

Hansu asked, shocked, "You can sense them from here?!"

Baki nodded. Hansu glanced at Minji and said, "Minji, go close inside and close the door." Then he went to the front door and opened it slightly. He saw a terrified delivery boy. Behind him were several armed men. They rushed at the door.

"GET INSIDE! TAKE THE DAUGHTER FIRST!" the leading figure shouted. But before he could give more orders, Hansu executed an axe kick, slamming him to the ground. Hansu immediately locked the door from the inside. Then he looked at Baki. "Sorry for dragging you into this mess, kid."

But Baki smiled. "Never mind, old man. I think I'm really going to enjoy tonight!"

Suddenly, armed men broke down the door with a breaching ram and rushed in. Hansu Seong took his fighting stance and said, "I'm sorry, but this is an ordinary family home. It's not right to use that kind of weapon, don't you think?"

The armed men rushed at Baki and Hansu Seong. Baki grinned madly and rushed at them too. The men were armed with some kind of stun weapon. Two men rushed at Baki, trying to hit him with their weapons. Baki easily dodged their wild swings before punching one of them in the jaw. The force was so strong it directly snapped the man's neck sideways.

The other enemy stammered backward in fear. Baki hit him in the jaw with a spinning kick, slamming him into the ground.

More enemies started rushing at Baki. Baki smashed the first guy with an overhand punch, then grabbed him and threw him onto the others. Two more rushed from behind, swinging their stun weapons wildly. Baki grabbed one's sleeve and slammed him to the ground. The other guy jumped at Baki, trying to smash his head.

But Baki performed a front kick, sending the enemy crashing into more enemies. More and more rushed in. Baki jumped into the air and performed a 540 kick, sending all the enemies flying back. But one managed to stun Baki with his weapon. More rushed in and pressed down on Baki with their weapons.

Baki slowly moved his body mid-shock and grabbed all the weapons, crushing them. The enemies stepped back in fear. A savage grin appeared on Baki's face. "That was a nice massage. Fixed all my stiff muscles."

Then he rushed at the enemies and performed a jump kick at one unlucky soul. The enemy flew back like he'd been hit by a truck. His body crashed into the wall. Instant death. All the enemies attacked Baki together. Baki moved so fast that it appeared to them that he had vanished into thin air—until a gut-wrenching cry rang out. One of the enemies was slammed into the wall, his body twitching as if he were having a seizure.

Meanwhile, some enemies found Minji. But she had locked herself in a bunker inside the bathroom.

Hansu Seong, who had been stunned by the weapon, stood up again. His face twisted with anger. He performed a palm heel thrust at whoever seemed to be the immediate leader of the armed men. The leader went flying into the air.

Hansu walked toward the fallen leader. "It seems like you came to target my friend and his daughter."

The leader spoke, "Do you think we're going to tell you—" A bullet struck him in the head. Suddenly bullets showered down where Hansu Seong was standing. He immediately dodged.

One of the enemies set fire to the house. Seeing the flames reach the kitchen where the gas cylinder was, Baki and Hansu rushed to the bunker where Minji was.

Hansu picked up Minji and jumped through the window. Baki followed behind them.
