Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

Seventh Heaven.

Within the Core of what is known as the Heavenly System, an angel that recently regained his true identity conversed with the construct created from a fragment of God's own energy and soul.

Going through all the functions and programming of the system, the Angel could not help but complain to the construct.

"You know, you really should have included some kind of learning module in this system. Look at all this mess caused by its inability to adapt."

"Haha! True. I could have done that rather easily. But the problem is that I can't have the system become a truly independent and learning entity."

"The very possibility of it going rogue after becoming self-aware or turning on the very people it is supposed to help is something that nobody can afford."

"Hm. Makes sense. But still, since you are here as a construct, couldn't you have made it so that you can modify it from within the core itself and manage its function instead of relying on Michael to operate it?"

The Construct gazed warmly at his first child.

"Arael. This place exists at a metaphysical level and cannot maintain a connection to the physical realm without an interface. The energy it draws from the Dimensional Gap to function is something that cannot be used directly either."

"With a physical being acting as an anchor and filter for the energy by using my remnant divinity, the system converts the raw energy of the Dimensional Gap into Light and Holy Energy, which it then uses to function. It also uses the physical being as a way to manifest in the real world and exert its influence."

Arael, or Aetherion as he prefers now, even if the construct refused to use that name for his first son, stared at a hint of sadness and pity. An expression that the Construct held as well.

"Doesn't that mean that Michael would be in constant struggle to not let the energy overwhelm him completely and rewrite his existence? Removing his identity completely?"

"...Yes. He would. Unfortunately, until you returned, there was no other alternative."

"Just so you know, I am not going to leave this system as is. I will be making a lot of changes and adjusting things according to my own moral compass."

The construct simply smiled as he slowly started to fade under the saddened gaze of Aetherion.

"I know, my son. And, truth be told, I think my ideals might be a bit outdated in this day and age. So, it is up to you to decide how to protect the mortal races from the supernatural."

The construct smiled.

"Besides, you are perhaps the only one in the Heavens who has a strong enough soul to rule over the system instead of struggling to hold it together."

"Good luck, my son."

"....Thank you for saving me from the Dimensional Gap. And giving me a place within your realm."

Once again, the construct simply placed his hand on Aetherion's head.

"Your origin may have been different from the others, but you are still one of my sons. So, there is no need to thank me, Arael."

"May you finally find happiness, now that you have been healed completely. And lead the rest of your kin to a brighter future."

With that, the construct that God created long ago for the sole purpose of meeting his first son once again, knowing that he would one day break out of his prison one way or another, finally faded into oblivion, his divinity finally spent after a thousand years of sustaining itself on scraps of holy energy.

Aetherion took a deep breath, suppressing the complex emotions rising within his heart, and turned back to the system core, knowing that there was nothing he could do to save that remnant soul, simply because God had refused his offer to use his spells to try and save his soul fragment. Maybe even resurrect him if possible.

According to God, his time had long since passed, and the only regrets he ever had could be easily handled by Aetherion now that he had returned, so he had no reason to be brought back to life. Not to mention that his main soul had already faded into oblivion long ago.

What Aetherion did not know was that even if he did try to use Resurrection on God's soul fragment, it would not work.

For starters, God's soul fragment was already on a level of its own. So powerful that Aetherion could not even see the depths of its power. So how strong would his full soul be?

That is why Aetherion would not be able to resurrect him, simply because he was ridiculously strong from the current Aetherion's spell to work.

Aetherion channeled his power and plunged his consciousness into the Core of the System, starting to enact the changes that he had discussed with God's Construct, starting from fixing the many bugs it was experiencing across the world.

The first issue was energy.

Because of the fact that Michael was never created to handle such a huge burden of acting both as the filter for energy from the Dimensional Gap and to act as the system's conduit in the real world, he had become a bottleneck for the system, unknowingly reducing its efficiency to absurdly low levels.

This was because Michael's soul, which was born from God's own power, was too perfect, too unnatural, for the system to use.

So, Aetherion severed the connection between the System and Michael before connecting it to his own soul.

His naturally powerful soul, combined with the chaos that comes with a naturally born soul, was exactly what the system required to properly filter the chaos of the Dimensional Gap by comparing it with his own soul's chaotic energies and then filtering them out, producing Light and Holy Energy.

Feeling his own Light and Holy Energy bolstered to an absurd degree by the System the moment he connected with it, as well as how the System seemed to have gone into overdrive with the fresh supply of a large quantity of energy, Aetherion felt like chuckling, imagining the faces of the other supernatural races across the world.

"Now, to fix the other major 'bugs' of this world."

A mischievous and excited expression appeared on the otherworldly Angel's face as he took out a Shooting Star ring and a red orb with fire held within it, a Caloric Stone.

Seventh Heaven entrance.

At the entrance of the Seventh Heaven, the four archangels stood with worried expressions as they stared towards the shut gates of the Seventh Heaven.

Michael had felt his connection with the system snap all of a sudden a few minutes ago, making the angels worried about what was going on inside.

Gabriel once again started to pace near the gates, an action that Uriel replicated as the two became restless with worry.

Michael kept a calm gaze, yet internally, he was panicking as he tried to imagine what was going on.

On one hand, he felt worried about the system. He wanted to know what was going on inside that made the system's connection vanish from within his soul and what implications it would have for his race as a whole.

On the other hand, and more importantly for him, he was worried about Aetherion. Worried for his safety, and could not help but panic the moment any thought crossed his mind where he would lose his brother again just after getting him back.

Suddenly, the Heavenly System, which had already been working at full power for a few months now, suddenly went into overdrive as pure Light and Holy Energy practically flooded the seven heavens before descending into the mortal world, this time without needing Michael as the anchor for the energy's manifestation.

All around the world, the many supernatural races whose energy could be considered 'evil' 'corruptive', or 'demonic' instantly felt the effects as the system instantly started to supress them and their power.

In Kuoh, Cleria Belial hunched over as her power dropped from High-Class straight to Low-Class as the system restrained her power, Worthless, completely.

In Kyoto, any yokai that was outside their hidden realm nearly fell to the ground as most of their power was directly suppressed to the lowest levels possible.

The Vampires of Romania from both factions who were caught outside the barriers of their home territories were instantly incinerated by the surge in holy energy.

Across the entire world, similar incidents took place as beings of darker origins were forced into hiding almost immediately as the Heavenly System attacked them insistently.

Yet, this was not the end of things.

Strange things started to happen across the world as the System started to update on the global level, causing absolute pandemonium across the supernatural communities across the world, as many strange and insane theories started to appear in the minds of many leaders.

But one thing was for certain. Things would no longer be the same. And more importantly.

The Heavens were finally back in action with a force that was never seen before, not even during the time of the Heavenly Father.

Will this change be good or bad for the world? That remains to be seen.
