The Sky Island is located in the first half of the Grand Line, above the White-White Sea, which is itself above the White Sea.
Sky Island exists above the White Sea (7,000 meters in the sky), and above that, the White-White Sea (10,000 meters in the sky). At such altitudes, the air is extremely thin, and the physical abilities of Blue Sea (ordinary sea) people who reach this height are significantly diminished. Some residents of the island (primarily those from Angel Island) have two feather-like wings on their backs.
A group of people who live in peace, isolated from the world, reside here. It is also a place difficult for ordinary people to reach. Many believe Sky Island doesn't exist. Straw Hat Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates once reached the White Sea by ascending a perilous upward current known as the "Path of Life or Death," and finally arrived at the Sky Sea where he defeated Eneru on God's Island.
In the past two years, almost no ships have entered the White Sea via the "Path of Life or Death." If one takes other sea routes, only a few out of 100 people survive. If one ascends along the current, there are only two possibilities: either everyone survives or everyone perishes.
The island's terrain consists of God's Island, Angel Island, Kumogakure, and the golden city of Shandora. There is a kingdom on the island called "God's Kingdom," composed of Angel Island and Apaya. For generations, the leader of God's Kingdom has been called God. When Straw Hat Luffy and his crew arrived, God's Kingdom was under the terrifying rule of God Eneru. Apaya, located in the Sky Sea, was originally part of Jaya Island in the Blue Sea (the Sky Islanders' term for the surface sea), and was carried to the White-White Sea by a current 400 years ago. Four hundred years ago, the North Blue navigator Noland once visited Jaya Island (which was then still intact).
Upon returning home, Noland claimed to have discovered the golden city of Shandora. When Noland led the king back to Jaya Island, the entire island had broken apart, and the golden city was lost. The Shandians (descendants of the original Jaya Island residents) waged a 400-year war with the Sky Islanders to reclaim their homeland and ring the golden bell again. Later, Angel Island was completely destroyed by Eneru, but Straw Hat Luffy timely prevented Eneru from further destroying Apaya. Straw Hat Luffy defeated Eneru, ending the island's 400-year war.
