Chapter 5 - CH<5>

"Young Modoriya are worthy to inherit my power!" The two boys look at All Might with confusion, "Huh?" They both exclaimed.

On the street near Midoriya's house, Izuku and Kagami are in shock. "I-Inherit your power?" Kagami raised an eyebrow, "What exactly is that supposed to mean?"

"Hahahaha! What's with those faces you two? It's just a suggestion. The real begins now. Listen young man..."

"I'm asking you if you whether or not you will accept my power!" All might coughs blood as he shouts, Izuku turned to Kagami, "Wh-What is All Might saying?"

Kagami simply waved his hand, "No clue. I'm just as confused as you are." All Might sighs as he wipes away the blood, "This concerns my quirk, kids."

"The tabloids are always guessing what my quirk is they call it "superhuman strength" and a "boost", and I constantly dodged the

question during interviews with a funny joke." He looks down at his hands, "Because the Symbol of Peace, All Might, had to be a natural-born hero."

"But, I will tell you the truth." He places both hands on his forehead and leans his head back looking at the sky before striking another pose, "My Quirk was passed on to me like a sacred Olympic torch."

"It was passed... on to you...?" Kagami eyes widen at All Might's words, "That's right. And next, it is your turn young Modoriya!"

"W-Wait! Hold on a minute!" Izuku puts his finger on his forehead and starts rambling his eyes spinning in circles, "It's true that your Quirk is something hotly debated as one of the world's greatest mysteries, so much so that not a day goes by when I don't see someone talking about it online..."

"But, well, I don't really understand what you mean by inheriting or passing on a Quirk… I've never heard of anything like that before, and it's never even been conjectured in the debate. Why is that? Is it because since the dawn of history, a Quirk like that was never confirmed? In the first place in" Kagami smacks Izuku hard in the back of his head smacking him out of his rambling state. "Ow! Kagami!"

"You always start with denial, huh?" All Might looks at Kagami who just shrugs, "Nonsense!" All Might proclaims spreading his arms. "Wha?!" Izuku looks up confused.

I may hide a lot of things, but I'm not a liar! The power to transfer power… That is the Quirk I inherited!" All Might's hand glowed with a bright light. "I inherited One For All."

"One For All…" the two boys exclaimed simultaneously, "That's right. One person cultivates the power and passes it on to another, who also cultivates it and passes it on again."

"It is the crystallization of power that spins together the voices of those who need help with a courageous heart."

"Why are you… Why are you giving me something so great?" Izuku asked looking up at All Might. "I've been looking for a successor. And then, I thought it would be all right for you to inherit it."

"You're just a Quirkless hero fanboy, but you were more heroic than anyone else back there!" Izuku begins to tear up again. "Never mind! Well, it's up to you, though. What'll you do?" Izuku clenches his fist.

'He said so much to encourage me and even told me his secret… Is there? Of course there isn't… There's no reason for me to turn him down!'

"I'll do it!" Izuku says wiping away the from his face, "I'll accept your power!"

"An immediate reply. That's what I thought you'd say!" Kagami's phone rang and he picked it up only to be greeted with a loud screeching voice, "Hoshino Kagami! Where have you been? I just saw the new! Why are you out fighting villains in the middle of nowhere!"

"Grandmother please stop screaming it's bad for a woman your age to be exerting so much energy," Kagami sighed shaking his head, "Oh is that Kagami?" A new voice came this time this one deep and gruff.

"Hey kiddo! Just saw you on the news you looked pretty cool! Reminded me of my youth!" Kagami was visibly embarrassed something that rarely happened. "It was nothing Grandfather just helping," Kagami cleared his throat his cheeks red.

"Tsuyoshi you dolt, don't encourage him! He disobeyed the law and could have been injured badly!" Kagami's Grandmother spoke up, "Come now Yuki the kids been through a lot. Plus Toshinori was there to save him in the end so everything went well, no?" Hearing his name being mentioned All Might was stunned before smiling, he had almost forgotten who Kagami was.

"Yeah, yeah you know he's right infront of me," there was silence for a second, "Toshinori my boy how are you!" Tsuyoshi spoke up cheerfully. Kagami gives the phone to All Might, "Ah... Sensei Itsuro it's been a while sir," There was joy in All Might's voice he was clearly elated to hear from his Sensei.

"Indeed it has my boy! You haven't spoken to us in years, trying to run away from your Sensei Hahaha!" Tsuyoshi laughs out, Izuku was starting to see where All Might got his from, "N-no sir I've just been really busy with hero work the past few years."

"Ah! I see those bastards have got you working like a dog," there was a smack that could be heard from the phone, "Ow! Yuki? What was that for?!"

"I don't know? I suddenly had the urge and I followed it," you could hear the sarcastic tons from Yuki even through the phone, "Toshinori deary, have you been well?" Her tone had changed to a sweet and gentle old lady in the span of a single second.

"A-ah Aunty Hoshino I've been well." There was a bit of hesitation in his voice, "Who's your injury doing any better?"

"No aunty it hasn't changed, but I think my time as a hero is coming to an end," he sighed swiping his hair back, "Well it was inevitable with that injury no one in their right mind would have continued fighting but I guess your just that stubborn, Nana would be proud."

All Might's voice hitched, "Yeah..." A moment of silence passed, "Toshinori if your retiring than have you chosen a successor yet? I more than happy to help! My Grandson Kagami's a possible candidate he's very athletic even though he looks small and-" Tsuyoshi's voice was muffled for a moment and you could hear the two arguing, "Toshinori forget what this decrepit old geezer is saying, clearly age has made him lose his senses."

"We're the same age! You bitty old hag!" Tsuyoshi yelled in annoyance All Might decided to to stop the tension before a fight broke out he new if one did they'd be here for hours, "Actually I've already found a successor."

"Really?! Who?!" They both questioned, Kagami tried to signaled to All Might making chopping motions around his throat telling him not to tell them, "Ahh...?" The two on the other end were patiently waiting for an answer.

"Ahhhh... Well he's actually a friend of Kagami's his name is Modoriya Izuku," there was silence on the other side of the phone Kagami fell down as if the life had been drained from him, "Kagami's... Friend...?" Tsuyoshi spoke with confusion.

"What? Kagami doesn't have any friends?" Yuri sounded curious, " Kagami has friends? I thought that kid was a loner?" Kagami's soul had left the earth, "Toshinori can you give the phone to Kagami, please?"

All Might handed the phone back to Kagami who reluctantly took it, "Yes." He spoke in a soft voice, "Kagami why haven't you told us you have a friend?"

"Yeah kiddo you could've introduced us to him," Tsuyoshi says in a teasing tone, "Absolutely not! You two would embarrass me!" Kagami rushed to defend himself.

"Awe! Yuri I think your little Kagami's got a little crush," a vein appeared on Kagami's head, "I most certainly do not!" His grandfather laughed on the other end.

"Ah~ young love reminds me of how me and Kaito met," Yuri had a day dreamy sing song voice that only furthered Kagami's annoyance, "Same with me and Hanako," Tsuyoshi added.

"This is exactly why I never tell you two anything!" Kagami dropped the call and shoved his phone back into his pocket, "I see those two are still the same as they were years ago."

"They are unbearably annoying," he huffed as he composed himself. "Well All Might well see you another time we have to get home."

"Before you go young Modoriya, I need a way to communicate with you so here have my private number I'll tell you the details in a few days," he handed Izuku a piece of paper with a number. "Thank you All Might!" Izuku bowed down and him and joined Kagami on his way home.

"Bye Mr Yagi!" Kagami waved as he walked away.

The two boys walk for a bit until they finally reached Izuku's apartment complex. "Well bye Izuku see you at school tomorrow," Kagami waved as he made his own way home. "Ah bye Kagami!"

Kagami walked until he reach a car it was black with tinted windows. It looked really expensive. A young man in his early twenties stepped out of the car giving a polite bow to him, "Young Master Kagami, your grandparents were quite worried. Shall I inform them you've returned safely?"

Kagami sighed as he opened the door and sat in the seat, "No need, Yano, I already got the verbal beatdown over the phone."

The butler chuckled softly as he got in and started the car. "I see madam Hoshino hasn't changed much."

"Unfortunately," Kagami muttered, staring out the window. The lights of Musutafu city flickered across the tinted glass people still bustling in the streets.

He exhaled, the exhaustion of the day finally catching up to him. "Still... it was worth it."

The butler glanced at him through the mirror. "You risked your life, sir?"

"Maybe," Kagami said with a faint smirk. "But, it felt like the right call. Even if it was for Bakugou of all people."

The car drove in silence for a while before the butler spoke again. "And the boy? Midoriya, was it? The one from the news?"

Kagami's expression softened. "He's different. Reckless, sure, but his heart's in the right place." His gaze drifted to his hands, faint green flickers of aura pulsing weakly around his fingers before fading out. "He could stand to be a little more self-aware though."

The butler smiled knowingly. "You've finally made a friend, young master."

Kagami scoffed, looking away. "Don't get sentimental, Yano."

"As you wish," Yano replied, though the faint smile never left his face.

The car rolled up to the large gates of the Hoshino-Itsuro estate tall and dignified, bathed in soft lantern light.

"Welcome home, Master Kagami," Yano said as the gates opened. Kagami glanced once more at the glowing city behind him.

"Yeah… I'm home," he murmured, stepping out of the car.

But his mind wasn't on the mansion. It was on a green-haired boy who'd been told, You can become a hero. He gave a faint smile.
