The Buggy Pirates owed Kaito a debt they'd never know existed—his intervention had just prevented their complete annihilation by World Government forces.
As night fell over Fukumitsu Island, Ultron returned from his mission, this time following his master's explicit instructions to minimize the sonic disruption of his supersonic flight. The thunderous boom from his earlier departure had been problematic on multiple levels—not only disturbing the local residents but potentially drawing unwanted attention from passing ships. The sudden appearance of such an advanced robot on this backwater island would be difficult to explain if discovered.
Two unconscious figures in black suits hit the cabin floor with dull thuds as Ultron deposited his cargo before Kaito. Despite his metallic features, the robot somehow managed to project an expression of genuine remorse.
"There were three operatives total, but I accidentally eliminated one during the encounter," Ultron reported with what passed for embarrassment in his synthetic voice. "The male agent seemed determined to achieve martyrdom. He employed some form of body-hardening technique and made no attempt to evade my strike. I genuinely didn't intend to kill him."
The moment Kaito heard "body-hardening technique," he immediately understood the situation. Tekkai—one of the Marine's Six Powers techniques and arguably the most self-destructive combat skill ever developed. He couldn't count how many combatants had fallen victim to this particular martial art, standing motionless like practice dummies while their opponents delivered devastating attacks.
These two surviving CP9 agents had never appeared in the original manga, marking them as essentially disposable background characters. Unfortunate that they lacked any distinctive traits worth preserving.
Buru buru buru buru...
The Den Den Mushi carried by the female operative began its urgent chiming, but answering proved impossible in her current unconscious state. Even if she were awake, Kaito doubted she would cooperate—these agents were conditioned from childhood to serve as the Celestial Dragons' perfect puppets, programmed to sacrifice comrades and themselves without hesitation for their masters' cause.
Unlike his stint in the Marvel universe, Ultron lacked any meaningful brainwashing capabilities here. During his conflict with the Avengers, he'd managed to recruit Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, only to have them betray him halfway through the crisis once their emotional manipulation wore off.
"Secure them for now. They might prove useful eventually."
The Grand Tale System's virtual marketplace offered single-use brainwashing devices for 100 million Infamy Points, but Kaito considered such expenditure wasteful on minor characters. These world-class items could only be purchased once—better to save the opportunity for more significant targets.
Kaito retreated to his modest home, a simple one-bedroom wooden cabin that prioritized privacy over luxury. Though the accommodations were bare, the location offered blessed solitude, positioned far enough from the island's small town to ensure minimal interruptions.
Lying across his narrow bed, he contemplated crafting another spectacular script. The world deserved a truly magnificent performance, and his recent broadcast had felt disappointingly brief. The planet's inhabitants clearly hungered for more elaborate entertainment, and Kaito was determined to satisfy their viewing desires completely.
"One more draw," he murmured, feeling that familiar addictive pull toward the character summoning system. The urge to randomly acquire new heroes had become almost irresistible—if he weren't saving Infamy Points for emergencies, he'd probably blow everything on a massive ten-hero summoning spree.
"System, bring up the hero pool interface. I haven't drawn anything tonight yet. Maybe my daytime luck was just an anomaly."
After deducting another 100 million Infamy Points, a silver summoning circle materialized before him, immediately dampening his enthusiasm. Apparently, he couldn't escape his historically terrible gacha luck even in this new world.
The figure that emerged, however, proved far more intriguing than his initial disappointment suggested.
A woman stepped gracefully from the silver light, her short black hair framing distinctly Asian features with elegant precision. She wore a form-fitting red qipao dress with a daring thigh-high slit, complemented by sleek black heels that added several inches to her already impressive height. Most notably, she carried what appeared to be a specialized firearm—though its design suggested purposes beyond conventional shooting.
The woman embodied mature feminine authority with an almost predatory grace, representing a rare "queen" archetype among his summoned heroes.
"Incredible. Even video game characters fall within the system's summoning parameters. I seriously underestimated this hero pool's scope."
Kaito accessed the detailed character profile, confirming his growing suspicions about her identity.
Ada Wong
· Origin:Resident Evil
· Age: Twenty-four years old
· Equipment: Grappling Gun
· Unique Talent: Progenitor Virus
· Abilities: Zoan-type Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model: Plaga Parasite
This was indeed Ada Wong—the younger version from her earlier appearances. Kaito had spent countless hours playing the Resident Evil series during his previous life, particularly drawn to the franchise's evolution through various engine updates and community modifications.
He'd been particularly obsessed with the remakes, which offered tremendous replay value enhanced by user-created content. The modding community had produced endless costume variations and character customizations that transformed the survival horror experience into something almost dangerously engaging.
Ada Wong had always fascinated him as a character—mysterious, morally ambiguous, operating according to her own agenda while occasionally assisting the protagonists. Her true identity remained perpetually shrouded in mystery, with even her name potentially being a cover identity. The beautiful spy who walked the line between heroism and villainy had left an indelible impression on his gaming memories.
In her original appearances, Ada relied primarily on physical combat skills, weapon proficiency, and espionage expertise to navigate the zombie-infested hellscapes. She infiltrated various organizations, sabotaged their operations, acquired biological samples, and occasionally aided Leon Kennedy during his most desperate moments.
However, her summoning to this pirate world had triggered significant modifications, importing two of the Resident Evil universe's most dangerous elements alongside her.
Clicking on the "Progenitor Virus" entry revealed comprehensive details about the original biological weapon that had spawned countless horrors. This primitive virus served as the foundation for every subsequent bioweapon development—the T-virus that created Tyrants and Lickers, the G-virus, C-virus, A-virus, Veronica virus, and countless other variants. The Resident Evil world seemed to introduce new viral strains with each installment, creating an endless cycle of biological terrorism that made survival increasingly precarious.
Beyond viral weapons, that universe had also produced terrifying parasitic organisms. Ada's infection with Plaga larvae during the events of Resident Evil 4 had apparently been transformed into her Devil Fruit power in this world.
Three variants of Plaga parasites existed: subordinate, dominant, and queen forms. Ada possessed the unique queen-type parasite, making her the sole breeding source for the species while granting absolute authority over all parasitic life forms.
"Boss, could you provide some context about my current situation?"
Before her dimensional transport, Ada had been engaged in combat with parasitic creatures when the summoning light had enveloped her. The transition between worlds had apparently smoothed away any confusion about her circumstances—she instinctively understood that this young man represented her new superior.
For the second time that day, Kaito found himself explaining the One Piece world's fundamental structure to a newly arrived subordinate. With Ultron now available, he'd definitely need to create some kind of digital briefing system—perhaps a computer database containing all relevant information that new heroes could review independently, saving him from repetitive exposition.
After thirty minutes of comprehensive explanation, Ada had grasped the essential details about this ocean-dominated planet. The concept of a world covered almost entirely by water existed mainly in science fiction literature from her perspective, while the various intelligent races seemed more appropriate to fantasy novels. This truly was a complex and fascinating reality.
Despite her Devil Fruit enhancement, Ada's combat capabilities couldn't match the raw power of dedicated battle-focused anime characters. Her greatest strengths lay in espionage and infiltration—skills that would prove invaluable when deployed against enemy organizations as a deep-cover operative.
