Chapter 44 - Lady Rhea

(Aegor's POV)

I walked out of the Small Council Room, rubbing my neck, "What an annoying situation....." I said with a scowl, "Tch...."

"Aegor." I heard someone call out

I looked to the side, seeing Rhaenyra walking up to me, holding her son in her arms as the boy slept. She had been rather clingy, not letting go of the babe and taking him wherever she went.

"Rhaenyra." I said as she reached me, "You're here to see the King?"

She nodded, "Yes." She said, "Is Daemon in there too?"

"Yea." I said, "He is."

"I've heard some.....rumors." She said, "About him."

"Hm." I said, "That's interesting. The Queen herself spoke to me about them too."

"Aegor." She whispered, "What if we are found out?"

"We will be if you talk like an idiot out in the open." I said, rolling my eyes, "We'll talk later. I have to go and check on my daughter."

"Oh, that is correct." She said with a slight smile, "You just had your daughter. Apologies, I was so preoccupied with my own duties I missed Selene's labors."

"It's fine." I said, "You're not obligated to be there."

The doors opened behind me and I looked to see Uncle walking out.

"Rhaenyra." He said with a smile, looking at the boy, "Ah, Jacaerys is here too."

Rhaenyra smiled, "Father." She said, "I was just congratulating Aegor on his daughter."

"She looks wonderful, that girl. Just like you did when you were born." Uncle chuckled, "Aegor, I expect you to receive House Royce when they arrive."

"Any particular reason why?" I asked

He chuckled again as Daemon walked out, going past us without saying a word, "Because you're my nephew and you represent House Targaryen, that is why." He said, "The Royce Knights respect you, you know."

"Hm." I said with a nod, "If you say so."

"Yes, do me that favor." he said

"I heard what happened." Rhaenyra said, "Terrible thing. For Lord Celtigar's nephew to be murdered that way."

"House Royce has yet to find the murderer. That is why they are here." Uncle said, "Aegor, again, receive them. And be respectful."

I nodded before looking at Rhaenyra, "Can I expect you to see my daughter?" I asked, "It would mean a lot to Selene."

She nodded with a smile, "Of course."

"This is what it is about." Uncle said with a smile, "Family. We should be looking out for each other."

I nodded before walking away, "Yes." I said,

"That is right."

***************

"It is an honor to have you receive us, Prince Aegor." Lady Rhea said as she walked up to us, followed by her cousins, "I expect that the King would see us soon."

I was standing at the entrance of the Red Keep, "Hm." I said, "Yes, that could happen."

Lady Rhea stopped in front of me, wearing a casual black and bronze dress that had her House's sigil. She had her black hair tied in a braid, looking at me with her pretty eyes. She was quite the beauty, which I didn't get to see that often.

"I heard that your Lady-Wife was about to go in her labors?" She said with a smile, "Is that true?"

I nodded, "The child was healthy." I said, "A girl."

"Oh, congratulations." She said, "You must be happy about that."

"Overjoyed." I said with a slight smirk, "Her name is Aelora."

"Ah, a wonderful name." She said

I stepped to the side, "Go on ahead."

Lady Rhea looked behind, her cousins stepping away, as if they didn't want to go in.

"My brethren will stay outside. They don't feel comfortable inside the Red Keep, considering Prince Daemon is inside." She said as she walked up the steps, "He has a bad history with The Vale."

"I've heard." I said as she walked past me, "He's an asshole."

As we walked inside, she was looking ahead. Her side-profile was rather ethereal, a woman like her was unfortunate to lose her husband. Who would give her the fucking she deserves?

"I am sorry about your husband." I said, "I do not know the Celtigars personally, but they are fellow Valyrians."

"Yes." She said softly, "That is true."

After a few minutes of walking, we reached her chambers, which she entered without saying a word. She walked over to the chair and sat down as I stood in the middle of the room.

"You should have your brethren be here, in case something happens." I said

"I don't intend to stay here longer." She said as she looked around, "I wish to speak to the King, about my husband's murderer."

"Hm." I said, "Did you get along with him?"

"My husband?" She asked

I nodded, "Yes."

"We did." She said with a nod, "Even though he was younger than me, we did. He was just a bit older than you, Prince Aegor."

"I see." I said, "It's a terrible thing. I suppose you will take a while to remarry, hm?"

"I suppose so." She said with a frown, looking down, "It didn't help that he didn't put a child in me yet.....I.....it's nothing, I shouldn't be speaking like this."

"Do you know who did it?" I tilted my head

"I do." She said with a nod, "But nothing will be done until the King has spoken."

"Who was it?" I asked

"A member of the Bravoosi Sealord's crew." She said, "A man who visited Runestone for some reason. I believe he held a grudge against Lord Celtigar. I....I want to-"

"I'll handle it." I said with a slight smirk, "Don't you worry about that."

I turned around and began to walk way, "Wait." She called out, "What do you mean you'll handle it? What will you do?"

I looked at her as I was in the doorway, "Well.....what do you think?" I asked her, "I'm going to burn him."

"What?" She asked, "That is-"

"Your husband was murdered and he gets away with it?" I asked, "That isn't justice. I will enact it myself, the flames of the Silver Nightmare will burn the scum that dared shed Valyrian blood."

"He dies by dragonfire."
