Mina blinked like she'd misheard him. "Ah no, no, sir, it's okay! I can take the bus, or the train, or or walk! It's healthy! Good for the heart!" She even thumped her chest once, as if demonstrating cardiovascular strength. Isaac just stared.
A long, patient, silently judging stare. "…Miss Kang," he said slowly, "we are forty minutes from the nearest station."
Mina froze.
He continued, expression flat but voice firm, "And it's already dark." She laughed nervously. "Right, right, darkness. Night. Yes." Isaac briefly shut his eyes like he needed a moment to gather divine tolerance.
Then he gestured toward the car with a small, tired wave. "Get in."

"Miss Kang."
She jumped at the tone, polite, but with that quiet authority she could never refuse. With no escape routes left, Mina nodded frantically and scurried over to the passenger side.
