Alistair raised his head slowly, his eyes were indecipherable.
"Repeat." His voice was deathly cold and terrifying sounding like the devil from hell.
The man started to sweat, he knows when Alistair is like this anyone could be the next target and he's certainly not praying to be.
"Sir, I said miss Ivor is pregnant."
"She was in the hospital few moments ago with a man who had long brown hair." The man carefully added.
"Find out where she's living." Alistair ordered after a few moments.
"Yes sir." The man replied and walked out the way he had come while letting out a shaky sigh of relief.
Alistar stop up from the table pacing around before he finally broke into laughter. It was a kind of painful laugh that didn't sound right.
"Me, a father?!"
He went down to his seat and began twirling the globe on his table, the motion almost hypnotic and after a while, his expression became unreadable calm
"Well, let's see how this will turn out." He muttered and just then the telephone on his table rang and he picked it up.
"What is it?"
"Sir, there's an emergency. Patients were rushed into the hospital, they were involved in plane crash and needs immediate attention." The nurse at the phone said, her voice trembling.
"I'll be right there." Alistair replied, hie countenance turning gloomy.
The atmosphere in the car was filled with tension as Ingrid stared defiantly at Sebastian and in a protective gesture she wrapped her arms around her stomach.
"Ingrid don't be stubborn, you don't even know the father." Sebastian said, controlled anger clearly showing in his voice.
"Sure I do," Ingrid answered defiantly. "His name is Alistair."
"Alistair what?"
"Alistair....it doesn't matter, I'm keeping the baby and that's final." Ingrid tightened her grip around her stomach.
Sebastian looked at her actions with narrowed eyes.
"Ingrid..."
"Stop it, you don't get to decide weather I'll keep my baby or not, you are not the father!" Ingrid voice rose as she spoke.
"I may not be the father but I am your master, and I say you are going to abort this child." Sebastian voice was low and controlled in contrast to Ingrid high and emotional voice.
Ingrid was silent for a few seconds, staring at Sebastian before blinking thrice and taking a very long and deep breath.
"Okay, if that's how you want it; I'm done, let me be on my own from now on." As soon as she finished talking, she grabbed the handle of the door and pushed it with so much force it bounced back.
Ingrid held the door and came out with Sebastian staring her with undisguised shock and astonishment.
"Ingrid,...." He opened his mouth to talk but ingrid shut the door hard and determined.
Sebastian mind couldn't process what ingrid just said and did, to her he was the while world, her best friend, idol and family but because of a child, another's man child, she is determined to leave him.
He looked at the shut door for a long time before saying to the driver,
"Follow her."
"Yes sir." The man replied and ignited the car.
Soon they came close to ingrid but she didn't stop walking.
Sebastian wound down the window and looked at ingrid.
"Come inside and don't be stubborn." He said but ingrid increased her pace instead.
Sebastian gritted his teeth, looking at her unsubmissive shoulders.
"Ingrid," He called but she ignored him.
"I'm sorry." He admitted and ingrid stopped at last, but didn't turn back.
"Look, I'm sorry, i was worng; don't be angry alright?" He cooed softly.
"You promise you won't force me to abort the baby?" Ingrid asked without turning back.
Sebastian was quiet and the driver secretly prayed his master would agree, because if miss is determined, she doesn't go back.
"Yes." Sebastian agreed, though reluctant. "I won't force you to abort the baby."
The driver breathed a sigh of relief as Ingrid walked to the car, opened the door and sat down.
When they got home, Ingrid went straight to her room and laid down on her bed straight face flat. Ingrid room was large and spacious but comfy enough for her, it was a combination of cyan and red, there was a bean shaped product chair in one side and a poster of Stray Kids and BTS in opposite sides.
Her mind returning to that night, how Alistair made her feel that night, a way she had never felt before and she can't deny that she didn't like it, even though he was rough and he didn't stop till she fell asleep. She also remember how he smelt and tasted, he had smelt like caramel a stark difference to how he looked but complement his smooth velvety voice. He also tasted like alcohol but it didn't offend her that night but rather made her crave him more.
The sound of her door opening drew ingrid out from her thoughts. Sebastian pine and peppermint leaves smell entered the room, a whole different from Alistair caramel scent and Ingrid shoulders tensed a little.
"Ingrid," Sebastian called but Ingrid refused to raise her head.
He walked to her bed and sat down beside her, his hand stroking her hair.
"Don't be angry, alright? I only said what I said to keep you from harm, I knows what it feels like to raise a child single-handedly, you know I didn't and still doesn't know my father and I know the pain my mother went through; I just don't want you to go through it." He paused to see if Ingrid would say something and she did, her muffled voice sounding from the pillow,
"This is different, Sebastian. I don't have any emotional attachment with him and I have you, that's enough."
It's not enough, Ingrid. What's enough is if I'm tha father if your child.
Sebastian said in his mind but his mouth relayed something that didn't align with his thoughts and feelings.
"Okay, if that's enough for you it's enough for me. Just try not to tell the father so he won't come for take away the child." He kissed Ingrid hair, stood up, leaving the room.
Sebastian had done his investigation on Ingrid's operation last month and knew Alistair well enough.
"Alistair Ashworth." He whispered the name like it was a sin.
"I am not going to let you take away what I love again." He mumbled and walked to his room which was just opposite Ingrid's room.
Alistair entered his office and opened a door at the left entering a place that looked like a mini apartment, he had to work overtime because of the plane crash and he had just finished attending to the patients. He lifted his left hand and checked the time, seeing it was twelve am, he sighed and took off his jacket just then his phone rang.
Taking his phone from his trousers pocket, he saw the name Madam Ashworth.
His face became clouded and his aura cold.
"What is it?" He said in an emotionless voice as he picked the call.
"Alistair, is this how to talk to your mother?" Shyna asked over the phone, her voice was calm and composed, but the air of arrogance in her voice was unmistakable.
Alistair didn't say a word and Shyna continued.
"Daphane just called me that she has been at your house since eight pm and now it's twelve but you are nowhere to be seen."
"I'm working overtime, also tell Daphane to go somewhere else." With that he cut the phone and sneered.
Just as he dropped his phone and began walking to the bathroom, the phone rang again and Alistair cursed,
"What in the fucking hell?!"
Picking up the phone he saw the name Asher and his angry face calmed a little.
"Speak."
"Sir, miss Ivor home is at Fusion estate, Block B, No thirteen, Crestview Avenue."
"Okay, what else did you find out?"
"The man she lives with is quite close to her and his name is Sebastian Hayes. He's a business man and owner of Hayed Holdings Plc."
"Okay, I know him." Alistair squinted his eyes in remembrance.
"Keep an eye on her, and don't let her get in trouble."
