Chapter 23 - chapter 23 : one Star Awaken dragon

"Prepare yourself, young one," Ragnarok commanded, his blazing form shrinking, heat compressing until the flames burned white-hot.

"This will be… intense."

Before I could even ask what he meant, he hurled himself straight into my body.

Crimson-orange fire erupted, flooding through my mouth, nostrils, and even my pores. The flames invaded me entirely—an inferno of living energy.

The moment his essence touched my scales, the world detonated in pain.

"AHHHHH!" I tried to roar, but my jaw locked, the scream dying into a strangled gasp.

It felt like molten fire poured directly into my veins. Every cell burned, disintegrated, then rebuilt anew. Ragnarok's power coursed through me like molten rivers, scorching and reshaping me from within.

"It's like… liquid fire tearing through every scale!" I gasped, barely able to form words.

"The awakening process," Ragnarok's voice echoed inside, reverberating through my blood and into the very chambers of my heart.

Inside my heart…

Lub—dub. Lub—dub.

Suddenly, the valves burst open. A dense surge of flame essence flooded into my heart. The walls convulsed, quivering under the impact. My pulse faltered, vision fading as consciousness slipped away.

Then—

The blaze condensed, coalescing into a smaller version of Ragnarok within my heart. His burning eyes glowed with awe.

"This… this is the heart of a Whirling Dragon!"

At the core floated a pure violet flame essence, sealed inside a crystalline barrier. Through it stretched billions of glowing flame threads, spreading like roots across the heart walls delicate, branching, and alive. They extended further, intertwining with every cell network, forming a structure more intricate than any blood vessel.

Ragnarok's voice trembled with excitement.

"A bonsai… I've hit the jackpot! Such refined essence, such an intricate heart

this isn't a mere dinosaur's. This is a dragon's heart. And not just any dragon—"

His grin flared, wild and triumphant.

"Boy, you're the offering of a Greater Dragon, ruler of the cosmos!

Waited throusand of years on this jurassic land, generation of t rex beg to bind with me .

But I dreamed of fusing with a lesser dragon,

Hahaha becoming flame catalyst of greater dragon , possibility unimaginable .

With this this the God of Flame shall reclaim his former power in matter of centuries Hahaha!"

His laughter shook my very bones.

While he celebrated, I was dying. My heart trembled, its rhythm fading. Without blood, my brain would shut down within moments. Desperation surged I pounded my chest, trying to restart it.

Ragnarok snapped back to awareness.

"Oh no—what have I done?! His heart's structure is too complex. Force the fusion, and he'll die! Wait… yes through the stomach! I'll form a secondary flame circuit, a bio-matrix to channel the flame safely."

With a flick of his hand, a crimson thread of fire shot from the crystal in my heart to my stomach pouch. Flames spread outward, weaving millions of fiery veins through me simpler than the ones in my heart, but just as alive.

"Listen well, little one," Ragnarok said, his voice deep and resonant. "Spirit Flame Awakening isn't like a T-Rex's crude transformation. I am going to awaken your genome."

The mystical fire spread, flooding every system. I felt changes ignite at the cellular level. fundamental and irreversible.

Agony surged again. My bones burned, dissolved, and reformed. My muscles thickened and elongated, torn apart only to rebuild stronger. One side of my body was incinerated, the other adapted desperately to survive.

Every second was torment. I bit my tongue till blood filled my mouth. My claws tore deep into the volcanic rock beneath me.

Then, the pain shifted transformed.

"Success!" Ragnarok roared within. "All flame genomes—activated!"

A torrent of power erupted through my being. Unlike the fleeting boost from spirit fruits, this was real, permanent strength rooted in my very essence.

"I can feel it," I whispered, voice deeper, steadier. "The power… I'm awakening."

The transformation refined me—my body balanced, energy stabilized. Outwardly, I was only a bit larger, claws sharper, teeth glinting. But inside I had evolved beyond recognition.

"Your dragon essence has awakened," Ragnarok confirmed. "At the wyrmling stage, your transformation is internal. Your outer form will follow when you reach juvenile.

For now, you're a one-star Whirling Dragon disguised as a Whirling T-Rex. That will keep you safe."

His presence settled within my stomach, stabilizing the new flame circuits.

"I… I did it," I whispered, overwhelmed. "After everything—I'm not a failed T-Rex anymore . I'm… a dragon."

Relief surged through me, washing away weeks of humiliation.

And my first thought was of Pallet.

"All thanks to her," I murmured. "She only person believed in me.."

With newfound speed, I sprinted through the Flame Forest. What once exhausted me now felt effortless. Every step radiated power.

Soon, I reached the Lavaforge Cave. Warm light flickered from within. Someone was awake.

"Pallet," I called softly from the window. "It's me."

She sat beneath a glow of rainbow heat threads, deep in thought. Her eyes widened.

"Rider? You're here this late?"

I leapt inside.

"You look…" she paused, scanning me. "Different."

"It worked!" I blurted, unable to hold back my joy. "The spirit pact workedI awakened!"

Her face froze. "You… awakened? Impossible! That day we failed because of the patrol unit! Don't joke about this."

"I'm serious! I went back tonight. I called him again and succeeded!"

Her eyes trembled. "You mean… Ragnarok?"

I nodded eagerly. "Yes! You were right. Spirit fruits weren't enough I needed a pact. He answered me, Pallet. I awakened!"

I hugged her before I could stop myself

and got a fist to the face.

"OW!"

Her eyes flared. "Idiot! I told you not to meddle with Ragnarok! Why risk your life like that?"

I blinked, stunned, then realized she was worried.

"Sorry, Pallet," I said softly. "But look I'm fine. Better than fine."

Her anger didn't fade. She clenched her fists, muttering to herself, torn.

"This… this is my fault. If I hadn't told him… what if he turns into that demon dragon? Should I… kill him?"

" Yes , pallet , kill that monster who had burned your hometown . Kill him free from future trouble " her evil thought fuel sitting at left corner.

Suddenly beutiful version of her self materials at right corner.

" No, no , pallet . Look at his ignorant face , you can't kill person for his future actions. Maybe he is only that demon ghost wrong path"

Evil pallet

" So what , forget , when That innocent face by mere one breath incinrating strong armies of eleves as paper doll . Kill him , This is perfect opportunity "

Good pallet

" No, to that little t rex you are his only bestfriend in This world , and same for you. "

Her voice wavered, fighting between conscience and fear.

Finally, she snapped, "Both of you shut up!"

I blinked. "Both? Who—?"

She sighed, forcing her tone calm again. Then smirked. "Enough drama. Let's spar. I want to see this so-called spirit awakening."

I hesitated. "Now? It's the middle of the night."

"I said fight." She crouched low, flames flickering between her fangs.

I sighed, smiling. "Fine. But if either of us gets hurt, we stop."

She lunged, claws blazing.

But my body moved on instinct—swift, precise, unstoppable. I caught her strike, redirected her momentum, and sent her tumbling to the ground.

"Pallet!" I rushed to her side. "Are you okay?"

She rose slowly, eyes wide. "That… that shouldn't be possible."

"What?"

"I'm a three-star juvenile. You shouldn't even match me, yet you overpowered me like a hatchling."

"That can't be. I'm only one-star…"

"Wrong." Her gaze hardened. "At one star, you already rival a four maybe five-star Whirling."

I rubbed my neck awkwardly. "Heh… jealous?"

She smacked me again. "Idiot. That's dangerous! If others find out, you'll cause panic."

"I'll keep it quiet," I promised.

Her tension eased. "Good. If things go wrong you can count on me."

I grinned. "Of course. You're my only friend. If a any T-Rex bullies me, I'll yell 'Pallet, save me!'"

She rolled her eyes. "Shameless boy. Keep it down."

I laughed softly, but guilt stirred beneath my joy.

She didn't know the truth

that I wasn't just a T-Rex.

I am a dragon.

Would she still stand by me if she knew?

Meanwhile, Pallet's thoughts darkened.

Yes… if he stays quiet under my wings , he won't become that demon dragon.

Removing all options to grows reckless… I'll have to make sure he stays tame.

I'll turn him into my obedient little rabbit.
