As I am running between dense forests and dirt roads, my mind recalls last 30 minutes I spent explaining to every child that I am not abandoning them. 'Hehe. They are look adorable when they are crying.'
Alexia told me that dungeon city is about 2 days away from the town which already at half day walking distance. I didn't have that much time or the mental strength to spend that much time traveling. 'I need to get back home before tomorrow's lunch. Hiep!'
I jump onto a tall tree and proceed to climb up.
'I already directed kids not to sacrifices anymore blood. If the accommodations are decent enough, I could move them to the dungeon city itself. That would distance them and that creepy Father.' I finally reach the top and gaze at the endless ocean of mountains covered in green carpet. Cold air gently whiffs over all my body, leaving a soothing sensation.
Unconsciously, I put my hand on Melsier's sword and look back. "I hope that their visit to the church went smoothly."
My surrounding lights up as a loud thunderstorm brew in the distance. WHOOM!
'Ugh. I have to reach there before sunrise.'
To reach dungeon city in such short time is simply not possible. The dirt roads took 2 days on the fastest warhorse. Luckily, I had a plan. I raised my hands and began spilling mana directly into the atmosphere. 'Theoretically, every living and non living thing has a certain amount of mana. Just like every living and non living thing has weight to it. If we stack two heavy things together, it will create a gravitational pull which will further attract any things which has less gravitational force. Now mana works on the same principal, if we stack few living beings who has large enough mana pool, it will attract surrounding mana pools as well…. And something like a dungeon should have plenty of mana to attract this!'
With swing of a hand, I spread my mana in every direction. But even after waiting for any pull for 3 entire minutes, I began to worry. 'Obviously, my current mana pool was not even minute of my prime. My purity also seems to be diminished. Is this way-'
That's when I felt a faint pull. Something massive in the south. I quickly pumped all of the remaining mana into the limbs and jumped off the tall tree. 'Of course! This is an old technique. It is not perfect and has several drawbacks. The biggest of them is being lured into a trap. But I highly doubt that.'
I ran effortlessly for hours, through mountains, rivers and deep trenches. I could feel my mana pool's bottom but the sensation of stronger pull kept me going. 'There is no mistake! I can feel it! The wild and untamed mana! The bloodlust!'
After climbing my 3rd mountain, I saw it. The sky covered in black smoke which coming from countless buildings below. Each of those buildings massive enough to house hundreds of people, colourful lights blinking from every window. The unimaginably large hole in the centre of the city. "The dungeon city."
Entering the city itself was easy. No posts. No guards. Not even a wall to protect itself. I was in complete awe when I stepped into the city while sun was rising. Dozens of masked individuals walking right and left. Compared to the town, the air here was definitely little frisky and the people somehow even more paranoid. Walking around, I had yet to see a person's face. Tall buildings directly blocked sunlight, the clouds from here looked yellow and toxic. Large streets breaking into smaller gullies with designated shop corners. I see many boards on different alleyways such as [Meat route] [Iron smithy] [Baker's street]
I decide to stick the bigger road and focus on finding the guild. I kept wandering in the city as I searched for the guild but despite searching for 2 hours. I couldn't find it.
That's when I spotted something among the crowd. Rather it stood out in the crowd. A naked great sword being carried by a large man.
I rack my brain and quickly arrive at the conclusion. 'Only an adventurer would flash their weapon so blatantly.'
I decide to quietly follow that man.
After tailing him for few minutes, he reached at the edge of the pit. The road randomly ended at one point. All tall building had become even taller as I walked closer to the edge. The tall adventurer leaned into pit for few seconds and he fell. "What the-"
I immediately dashed forward and caught the handle of the great sword. "Ugh!"
The man looked up and shouted. "What are you doing? I was going to die!"
I tried to pull him up but even with the enhanced muscles his weight was just too much. "Oh y-yeah? Then d-die some o-other day!"
The tall adventurer wiggles around and shouts. "You brat! Let me go! I have nothing now! My future is doomed!"
I pull with all of my strength. "T-There is no such thing as no f-future!"
"Let go!!"
I grit my teeth and pull so hard that I felt my spine hurting. I somehow managed to get him back on the edge. Once on the edge, the adventurer climbed on his own. I let go and collapsed on the ground. Struggling to even breathe.
"Mr. Lambert!" A feminine voice came running to us. "Mr. Lambert! The medicine worked! Lyala woke up!"
The tall adventurer jumped over my body and tightly hugged the feminine man. I saw this unfolding right in front of my eyes. 'A tall and suicidal adventurer with a… man? No. Woman with a moustache?'
I somehow get up and stare at the scene in front of me. The tall adventurer walked up to me with a smile. "Hey. Thanks for catching me earlier. If it wasn't for you, I would have been dead to hear the news of my daughter." He extends his hand towards me.
I take a step back in avoidance. "No. No. It was just kind gesture."
Suddenly the adventurer flexes his big biceps and starts shouting. "Nein! Nein! You are too kind. You are too kind. I have to repay for your kindness."
'Why is he repeating every other word?' I question in my mind.
"Then! Come to my house! I will! I will! Personally reward you!"
Again, I take a step back. "No. No. I can't."
"Please! Come! Please!" The tall adventurer tries to grab me but he is stopped by the woman with moustache. "Sir! You cannot go home now! Your wife is in hospital and she sent to fetch you!"
"Nein??? Sorry, young man. I am running. Sorry!"
I force a smile at them. "No problem. No problem- Hey! Do you know where the guild is?"
The tall adventurer looks at me and points to the other edge of the hole. "The building with cross sword! Cross sword!"
