Chapter 8 - 6th plate

Though the satans were amazed at the power of the human before them, Shinji was busy going over the analytical and theoretical data granted to him by analysing the phenomena of the demonic powers.

'Its like magecraft, but there seems to be something more to it' Shinji thought. What he discovered was after using demonic power, he discovered it wasn't like the powers of magecraft, it was something more akin to the magic of old. Yes, it could be achieved using science, but the process itself was what interested him.

Demonic power was an energy, that much was true, yet it was also the abilities formed by the imagination of the caster, using their own intelligence and will to control and form the spell and the aspects behind its casting.

Lets take Serafalls ice manipulation for an example. The demonic power flowed from her body, and as it exited the demonic power transformed into the concept itself. The abilities and concepts were more or less in tangible form, but they were pure concepts at their core. Sirzechs power was the concept of destruction given form, and Ajukas power was the concept of analysis and calculation.

It amazed Shinji at how close he was to the age of the gods magic, and considering how this world apparently never left the age of gods, it didn't really surprise him that these beings have easier access to the more powerful abilities the mages back home didn't have, unless they were heroic spirits from the age of gods, or they were part of the Fraga family like Bazzet. He heard tales of the noble phantasm they possess and was hoping not to encounter her, yet.

"Well, that was a good demo" Shinji smiled and the others nodded, each getting valuable data from each other in mutual understanding, even if Shinjis data was more thurough and more in depth. They took Shinji back to the restaraunt along with Sakura as they left right after. It seems Zelretch came back during their absence, and it was obvious of what he wanted. Information was a valuable tool among magi and who was he to deny the marshall, but he wasn't gonna get walked over so easily.

"Let me guess, information?" Shinji probed as Zelretch nodded. "Its not everyday you meet people from another world, and that's coming from me" Zelretch agreed, and if the kaleidescope said something was rare, than it was rare even for him. "But, I am not a rude man, and I am willing to offer somethings in exchange for access and the like" Zelretch said as he sipped at the tea.

Sakura came close to Shinjis ear and whispered, "Shinji, can we not get information on the second magic from him? With your abilities, you could learn it." It was a valid choice, and Shinji agreed with her. Of course, resources and inside connections are also helpful. "I would like resources and connections, an in to the clocktower, and of course, the true magic under your possession" Shinji laid out the terms out front, not feeling the need to hide what he wanted.

Zelretch raised an eyebrow, as it was more common for magi to do a song and dance, hoping to probe for more info without having to offer extra. It seemed to Zelretch that the kid was a newbie at the game, yet the power within him probably afforded him that option that many mages had. For the reasources and connections, it was reasonable, especially since the grail war was coming up soon in a couple weeks or so depending on the present variables.

The terms sounded reasonable to him, so Zelretch nodded, of course adding a few extras for himself he felt he could get. "I would also like some more unique resources as well" said Zelretch, and it was obvious he wanted research material. Shinji reached in his pocket and pulled out hair samples from the demons before. The varying colors in hair provided a good variety, especially the mystery wafting off of each piece.

An average magi wouldn't be even able to gaze at a strand, and the higher level ones would cry over an empty wallet to get even a single piece. It was prized research material, and could you imagine what type of alchemical reagent it could make? Imagine the mystic codes that could be crafted.

"Will this suffice?" asked Shinji as Zelretch assessed the knowledge and began running a structural grasp on the material. The ever widening smile on his face was evident he was pleased with the exchange. "Of course, and I will get back to you on the kaleidescope another time" said Zelretch and while Zelretch was a troll, he was a man of his word. Zelretch smiled as they shook hands and exited the door and used the powers of the kaleidescope to go back to his workshop.

"Are you sure you can trust him?" asked Sakura and Shinji nodded. "He will honor the deal, he isn't a regular mage" Shinji offered to Sakura to placate her worries. Sakura decided to trust Shinji as she went to go get tea. Shinji seemed content with what he gained, yet he always knew having more was the better way to go. You never know what you may encounter in the worlds beyond, even from his own.

Shinji got up from his seat and went to the kitchen were Sakura was just finishing the tea and ruffled her hair a bit. "Why don't you go sit down, I will make us some dinner" Shinji smiled at her and her own lips seemed to smile lightly, emotions slowly creeping back into her. Shinji knew it was gonna be hard to help her heal, but he is willing to do it.

He decided to cook some katsudon. It didn't take him long to cook and plate the dish as he brought it out with the tea and all. He poured the pair a spot of tea and sat down. "Hey Sakura, would you like to spend time in Kuoh?" asked Shinji as Sakura peaked up from her bowl of Katsudon.
