Evelyn's knees weakened and Alexander stepped closer without thinking, his hand firm at her back.
"We are pushing fluids," the doctor continued. "IV hydration, monitoring neurological responses, cardiac rhythm, everything."
Gregory swallowed hard. "So she is out of danger?"
The doctor's expression tightened slightly.
"The immediate danger has passed," he said. "But the risk isn't gone."
Silence fell.
"Until we know exactly what she consumed," he went on, "there is no way to rule out delayed effects. Some toxins don't act all at once."
"How long?" Alexander asked quietly.
"Seventy-two hours," the doctor said. "We will keep her under observation for the next three days. If there are going to be complications like organ stress, neurological damage, anything, it will show in that window."
Lucas clenched his jaw with his eyes fixed on the closed doors behind the doctor.
"Can we see her?" he asked.
