"But I am not empty handed, I have my shares from our company and—"
"Which is not enough," Gregory interrupted her. "I want you to have something which is at par with what they have."
Evelyn did not say anything at first then she whispered, "I didn't even want to marry anyone right now."
Gregory's voice gentled. "But you will sometime in the future and Alexander is a good man.".
"My decision," she said quietly, "should still have been mine, dad."
Gregory closed his eyes and then he said something that froze Evelyn mid-breath.
"Alexander wasn't involved."
