Ciel's POV
I walked down the long corridors with the commander at my side, my footsteps echoing against the cold stone as we made our way out of the palace. The weight in my chest grew heavier with every step.
Heaven awaited us.
After leaving the castle grounds, we reached a safe clearing hidden from prying eyes. I stopped and turned to him.
"Open the portal to the Gates of Heaven," I commanded.
"Yes, Your Majesty," he replied.
He lifted the golden invitation and began to chant the rites of Heaven, his voice low and reverent.
The air shifted—warm, sharp, and unfamiliar. Light rippled before us, folding in on itself until a glowing portal tore open the space ahead.
Beyond it, I saw them.
The Gates of Heaven.
They stood tall and radiant, forged of gold and divine light, as imposing as they were beautiful. Power pressed against my senses, old and overwhelming.
"Let's go," I said.
Together, we stepped through the gates.
