One of the three great gods of Olympus, Poseidon, had descended. To finish off an ignorant mortal and his companion.
William would rush out onto the deck to witness a truly incredible sight-Giant tendrils made out of water rising out of the ocean, making the waves crash against one another, horses made out of water galloping around the boat like a predator circling its prey. However, what truly amazed him was what lay right in front of the ship. A massive giant made out of water, wielding a ginormous trident.
"Poseidon..."
William would mutter under his breath before looking to see what his captain was doing.
At the front of the deck, Odysseus and Poseidon were having a staredown. It seemed that Odysseus was trying to convince Poseidon to yield diplomatically.
While this was happening, William would rush to the side of the ship, out of the Sea God's line of sight. Hoping to avoid any upfront attacks.
Unfortunately, William had forgotten one key detail. The God of Seas was near omniscient about everything that happened in them. Meaning he could sense William's presence the whole time. Thankfully, he seemed not to have any intention of attacking him, or so William thought.
As the talk between Odysseus and Poseidon started to get more and more heated, the waves started moving faster and faster. Making the ship start moving extremely fast in random directions.
Perhaps to try to destroy whatever spirit Odysseus had left, Poseidon would command his sea tendrils to attack William as a surprise attack. Thankfully, he was able to evade them because he was as paranoid as he could be right now and was able to jump to the side of the tendrils, narrowly avoiding the attack. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the ship, which now had a massive gash in it that was starting to take in water, fast. The clock was ticking, so he had to move fast.
*Whoosh!*
The sound of a powerful wind being released reached Will's ears. When he turned his head to see where it came from. He saw his captain holding up a bag, seemingly spewing out a near infinite amount of wind. This was the item given to him by the Wind God to aid his journey home, the [Wind Bag].
There was only one problem, though, in this part of the story, Odysseus didn't have the windbag, "how odd.....", William would think to himself while watching the spectacle.
Odysseus aimed the windbag at Poseidon's water giant form. Then, he took out another bag, filled with all sorts of junk, and used the junk as ammunition for the firearm he had just created. Pouring it into the windstream, creating a primitive railgun of sorts.
"Y-you bastard...." Poseidon would stagger as his water giant form was reduced to shreds. He would attempt to reform himself with the surrounding water, but to no avail. He had seemingly spent all his creativity on the theatrics, and not enough on the actual attacks....
"That was easy.....too easy..." William would think to himself, in all his years of playing games and reading novels, a boss would never go down that easily. What was wrong?
*Rumble*
Now that he thought about it, this version of The Odyssey differed a lot from the one that he had read.
*Crash* The waves started spinning around the ship, faster and faster...
From his interference in the Sun God, to Odysseus still possessing the Wind Bag.
*Clash*
The Ship was enveloped by a whirlpool, bringing it to the depths of the Ocean.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Welcome to my Kingdom, King of Ithaca. Did you enjoy the little gift I prepared for you up there? It looks like your little satchel is running out of air."
Poseidon's voice boomed through the sea, reverberating through every water molecule. Like a wave crashing onto the land.
Will and Odysseus were sent to the seafloor, with Odysseus using the wind bag to provide air to both of them. The laws of physics seemed to differ in this world as the water pressure didn't instantly crush the two of them, and the wind bag didn't create a vacuum that would similarly crush them, how convenient.
Will would look towards the origin of the voice, and he would see a massive structure made out of sea prism and crystals. A throne. That's when it clicked. They were brought to the "Divine Domain" of the Sea God. Divine Domain as in, the place where a god's authority was enhanced to it's maximum level.
"So the attack earlier was just a lie? To make us think we were going to win to boost our egos? Just to bring us down to his domain where he's the strongest and beat us... He really is a pufferfish headed swordfish bodied blobfish of a living being..."
William would criticize Poseidon's ways internally, somewhat understanding the reason why Poseidon was so hated. Before turning over to his captain to see what he was doing.
Odysseus was standing before the colossal throne, mirroring the staredown he had just had on the ship with Poseidon, only this time Poseidon was the size of a skyscraper, perhaps even taller, it was hard to tell from the seafloor.
"Poseidon, it seems you have no honor, willing to go this far just to kill some mortals...."
Odysseus would provoke Poseidon with a grin on his face.
"Silence fool, this charade has gone on for far too long. Today is the day you meet your end..."
*Stomp* *Stomp*
Poseidon's colossal body would rise from the throne and start walking towards them, causing earthquakes with every step. He would swing his trident, forming a massive shockwave aimed right at the two insolent mortals that dared to blind his son.
Seeing the shockwave attack, both William and Odysseus would immediately spring into action. Odysseus would use the Wind Bag to move around Poseidon's body quickly, acting as a suitable distraction. While William would activate his light manipulation, forming 2 circles of light inside of Poseidon's eyes. He would then use Blessing of the Sun God to heat Poseidon's body up, roasting him from within.
Evidently, Poseidon was ticked off by the sudden appearance of Helio's powers. So he swung his trident once more, summoning countless creatures of the sea to attack William.
While William was busy cooking the sea creatures, Odysseus used the temporary opening that William gave him to do something he had kept secret from his crewmate.
"Work already....damn ability..."
[Divine Bestowal: God of Wisdom(Athena)]
[Eye of Appraisal]
This ability allowed Odysseus to see all the abilities of a being, aswell as their attributes and personality. He would point it at Poseidon for the third time.
