Chapter 66 - [DEM] 66: Devouring

After casting his teleportation magic, Morpheus vanished from the spot, but he didn't immediately arrive at Erina's side.

Instead, he entered his Light Dimension.

The reason? Erina was far away.

Morpheus needed the Light Dimension as a stepping stone to trace her location, enabling a spatial jump to reach her.

He arrived inside the Gourmet World.

Upon entering, Morpheus found Erina's description apt.

This was indeed a fragment world.

Not a complete world.

"Lord Morpheus, you're here," Erina said, exhaling in relief as he appeared.

Morpheus nodded, scanning their surroundings. They stood on an island teeming with bizarre foods.

Bacon grew on trees, grass tasted like spaghetti, mushrooms carried the flavor of chocolate or cotton candy, and almond cabbages sprouted from the ground.

Beyond the plants, there were equally strange animals.

Giant rabbits, pigs covered in marbled meat, fish with massive pincers, and enormous vultures with five tails, using sharp beaks and claws to hunt prey.

The island was vast, larger than Hokkaido.

Yet, compared to the entire realm, it was insignificant.

"Wait here a moment," Morpheus told Erina before shooting into the sky, reaching thousands of meters in an instant.

He surveyed the entire Gourmet World from above.

To his surprise, it was massive—beyond imagination.

Larger than Earth itself.

A fragment world bigger than Earth? Unbelievable.

But the evidence before him confirmed it.

Still, it remained a realm, not a full world.

As a Extra-Dimensional Demon, Morpheus was certain of that.

Using teleportation magic, he zipped across the realm—deserts, mountains, plains, seas.

In just over an hour, his footprints marked every corner.

He confirmed one thing.

This realm was likely the Earth from Toriko.

Not the complete Earth, though.

Just the Human World.

In Toriko, Gourmet Cells caused Earth to expand over billions of years, becoming over 600 times its original size, evolving into a Gourmet Planet teeming with delicious, powerful lifeforms.

This planet was split into two regions: the Human World and the Gourmet World.

The Human World was where humans lived, in an era of exploring and discovering delectable ingredients.

The Gourmet World, largely untouched by humans, held miraculous ingredients but was insanely dangerous, visited by only a handful.

Why? The Human World's top ingredients were around Capture Level 100.

In the Gourmet World, nothing was below 100, with the Eight Kings—the apex predators—reaching levels above 6,000.

Any one of them could wipe out the Human World.

Take Heracles, the Horse King, one of the Eight Kings.

Named after the Greek hero Hercules, it was a horse.

But what a horse—30,000 meters long, 22,000 meters tall, weighing two trillion tons.

Practically a mythological giant.

Beyond its size, Heracles had terrifying power.

A single breath could fuel months of combat. Its exhalation could pierce the Earth.

In the original story, to protect its unborn child, Heracles used "Extinction Breath," Sucking the air from thousands of miles around, creating an absolute vacuum.

Tokyo, with over ten million people and an area of about 2,000 square kilometers, would become a wasteland with one such breath.

That was the might of the Eight Kings.

Okay, getting off track.

Point is, thanks to Gourmet Cells, the Earth in Toriko was absurdly powerful.

Each of the Eight Kings ruled a continent in the Gourmet World.

The Human World, though only a fraction of the planet, was still larger than the Earth in this crossover anime world.

That was surprising.

This crossover world, stitched together from countless anime, had an Earth larger than the one Morpheus knew from his past life.

Yet it paled next to this Gourmet World.

Absolutely wild.

The Toriko Earth was just too massive—over 600 times larger.

After exploring the realm, Morpheus returned to Erina.

"Lord Morpheus, did you find any other humans?"

"Nope," Morpheus sighed. He'd scoured the realm and seen countless creatures, but no humans.

Erina sighed too. This was her several-th visit to the Gourmet World.

She'd never seen another human.

She'd suspected as much, and Morpheus's answer only confirmed it.

This was a realm of gourmet wonders, but devoid of humans.

"Lord Morpheus, what's the deal with this realm?" Erina asked, curious.

She only half-understood it and hoped Morpheus, with his greater perspective, could clarify.

As a Extra-Dimensional Demon, he saw things she couldn't.

"I'm not entirely sure," Morpheus said. "But once I devour this world, I'll probably know."

"Devour?" Erina blinked.

"Exactly," Morpheus grinned.

This Gourmet World was unclaimed, a tantalizing feast in his eyes.

He couldn't wait to consume it.

In the next moment, he unleashed his radiant Light Power, summoning a massive vortex.

The vortex radiated immense devouring force.

It began swallowing the entire Gourmet World.

The island they stood on was first, vanishing into Morpheus's Light Dimension in moments.

The vortex expanded, engulfing more of the realm's territories.
