In this world, Tsurara Oikawa hadn't left the Nura Clan, unlike her Nurarihyon no Mago counterpart. She remained a loyal member.
A notable change in this crossover universe.
"Lord Morpheus," Tsurara said, bowing respectfully as he opened the door.
She couldn't help it—his display of power that day had been terrifying. The memory of him effortlessly crushing Rihan Nura's full-force attack lingered vividly.
A monster like him was not someone a yokai like her could afford to offend.
Thus, she treated Morpheus with utmost deference.
"You're here with good news, I presume?" Morpheus asked.
Tsurara nodded. "After yesterday's efforts, the Nura Clan located dozens of man-eating yokai in Tokyo. However, we're unsure which one is the target you're seeking."
"The Supreme Commander sent me to invite you to identify them."
Fearing his displeasure, she quickly added, "Initially, we planned to bring them to you, Lord Morpheus."
"But yesterday, the Supreme Commander's yokai aura alerted the Onmyoryo. They sent one of the Twelve Divine Generals and one of the Twelve Heavenly Generals to visit the Nura Clan."
"They're still there, and a group is secretly monitoring us."
"So, we couldn't bring the yokai here. Please forgive us."
Morpheus gave a calm nod. "No need to panic. I'm not unreasonable. Since there's a good reason, I'll go with you."
Tsurara exhaled in relief. "Thank you for your understanding, Lord Morpheus."
He closed his door and followed her out of the residential complex.
Under Tsurara's guidance, they arrived at an abandoned building—a half-finished skyscraper halted mid-construction.
As Morpheus stepped inside, he sensed a lingering chill of yin energy.
No wonder the project was abandoned. The place was haunted.
Within the building, the yin energy had mostly dissipated, replaced by potent yokai aura.
There wasn't just one or two yokai here—there were many.
They climbed the incomplete stairs to the top floor, entering a vast, empty hall.
Inside, a crowd of yokai awaited, mostly from the Nura Clan. Morpheus recognized Kejoro and Karasu Tengu, along with Kubinashi he'd once disciplined.
Kubinashi touched his chest nervously upon seeing Morpheus. That single punch had knocked him out cold, and the sight of Morpheus brought back a phantom ache.
The memory was too vivid.
Beyond the Nura Clan, a group of yokai lay bound on the floor, their mouths sealed by spells, writhing like worms, unable to speak.
Tsurara explained, "These yokai on the ground are the man-eaters we found in Tokyo."
Morpheus acknowledged her with a nod and a "Good work," Then approached one of the bound yokai.
It was a cat yokai.
He crouched down and dispelled the spell sealing its mouth, allowing it to speak.
"Give me a laugh," Morpheus said.
"???"
"Laugh. If it sounds good, I'll spare your life. How's that?"
The cat yokai's eyes lit up. "You mean it?"
"Absolutely."
Seeing Morpheus alone but respected by the Nura Clan, the cat yokai assumed he had authority. It let out a hearty laugh.
Pfft!
In the next instant, Morpheus flicked a burst of Light Dimension power, piercing the cat yokai's body. Flames of light erupted from the wound, reducing it to ash in moments.
"That was an awful laugh," Morpheus said, displeased.
The cat yokai wasn't the one who devoured his predecessor, but since it ate humans, Morpheus had no qualms sending it to the grave.
He moved to the next yokai, a Kamaitachi.
"Same deal. Laugh for me. If it's good, you live."
He dispelled the spell on its mouth.
Having seen the cat yokai's fate, the Kamaitachi paled, trembling and stammering, too scared to laugh.
"What, you won't laugh?"
"I… I…"
"If you won't, then die." Morpheus flicked another burst of Light Dimension power, killing it instantly.
Its voice had already confirmed it wasn't the one he sought.
But if it ate humans, it deserved death.
He approached a third yokai, repeating the same words.
This one, seeing Morpheus's ruthlessness—death whether it laughed or not—froze in despair.
It decided to take a chance and laughed, fawningly.
The next second, Morpheus executed it.
"Please, spare me!"
"Nope." Morpheus killed it.
"You know who I am?!"
"Nope." He shook his head and struck again.
"I don't want to die!"
"Still not the one." Morpheus's hand fell, ending another life.
In moments, over a dozen yokai perished by his hand.
Laughing or silent, begging or threatening, none escaped death.
The remaining yokai were terrified.
"Good grief, we're doomed, aren't we?" They thought.
Who was this guy? Why was he so ruthless?
What grudge did he have against yokai?
Morpheus offered no explanations. If they weren't the one he sought, he killed them without hesitation.
The Nura Clan yokai watched, shaken, some feeling a pang of sympathy for their kind.
A few even wondered if they were aiding a tyrant.
But recalling Morpheus's overwhelming power, they suppressed their doubts.
Better a group of man-eaters die than the Nura Clan.
Soon, Morpheus beheaded the remaining yokai, leaving none alive.
