Chapter 17 - Sunderland

Dante stared at the screen for a moment, his fingers drumming lightly on the desk as he considered the offer.

'Of course I want to know the lore, how else can prepare Beatrice when she enter this place.' He said to himself. As the text hovered there waiting for his response. But before he did anything, he glanced back at Beatrice, who was still sitting on her end, awaiting his command it would seem.

'Why not?' He muttered to himself, a small smirk appearing on his lips, as he typed quickly. "Yes, show me the Lore."

The screen flickered, and new text scrolled up, painting a vivid picture in words that Dante absorbed with growing excitement. It was like reading a game dev's design doc.

[In an age long forgotten, Earth was home to ten mighty races, each vying for supremacy over a vibrant, untamed world. From the towering Draconis with their molten breath to the ethereal Sylphs who use the power of starlight to cast dangerous spells, every race carved their legacy into the planet's. But humanity? They were the weakest, frail and fleeting, their only strength lying in their cunning and unyielding will to survive, alongside there technology. War was a constant thing in that world. But all that came to a half when a cataclysmic asteroid, a relic of a dead cosmic god, crashed into the planet. It unleashed a tide of ruin that even the mightiest races couldn't withstand. The earth cracked, the skies darkened, and life began to wither.

In their desperation, humanity's leaders at the time devised Project Reincarnation. A final gambit to preserve their species, and carry them to a better tommarow. They sealed a select few humans about 1% of their current population in cryo-pods, buried deep within fortified bunkers, to awaken in a distant future when the planet might heal. The plan was to sleep for hundreds of thousands of years, emerging to rebuild and repopulate. But fate, as it often does, laughed at their plans. An earthquake shattered the facility, and Beatrice, your avatar, will awake seventy thousand years too early, her pod cracked open as result.

Sunderland, once a thriving continent, is now a desolate expanse of jagged ruins and twilight skies, warped by the Blight, a malevolent energy seeping from the cosmic god's corpse. This fallen entity, a being of incomprehensible power, didn't just die when it struck the earth. Its essence bled into the soil, twisting all life into grotesque mockeries of what came before. Plants grew teeth, hungering for flesh. Animals morphed into creatures known as the Monduses, monstrous creature's with particular taste for living flesh.

But the Blight's touch had a different effect on the intelligence creatures of the world, any living being touched by its decay is doomed to immortality. Death is no escape. When Beatrice, or any creature, falls, the Blight's energy forces them back to life, each resurrection leaving them slightly altered, a mutation creeping into their form. But Beatrice is special, The Blight Cells inside her can Perma kill other Immortal blight, and absorbed the dead flesh of the fallen.

Beatrice, alone and hunted, must traverse and explore this new or rather, this old but warped land, a place where despair hangs heavy and every shadow hides a Mondus waiting to tear her apart. Her mission is clear yet daunting. Journey the Shattered Lands, and collect the 10 Divine Fragments, scattered shards of the cosmic god's body, each bleeding with its ancient power.

By absorbing these fragments, or the essence of fallen foes, she can grow stronger, her body and soul evolving with each victory. But the Blight is a cruel master. Every absorption risks corruption, a creeping darkness that could consume her will if she is not careful. If she claims all ten fragments, she might wield the god's power to purge the Blight, restore the world, and save humanity, or embrace her new inhumanity what will she choose]

This was the lore Dante read, his eyes opening wide as he said. "Oh my." Dante said, suprise by the clear set up being presented here.

Still he wonder should he toss her ass in the world now or pheraphs let her get accustomed first. Soul games are not easy worlds conquer at all. Sure, she would without a doubt grow stronger the more time she spent playing, but still… it wasn't something to rush.

Get gud In a setting that is her reality, would be greatly different than how it was from behind a screen.

Naturally he scratched his head, weighing the thought before finally making his decision.

"Beatrice." Dante called, prompting her to look his way. "Ahhh... Yes Mr. D!?" She said awaiting his response, and Dante replied back to her saying. "I have change my mind I'm regards to sending you to the other world at this moment. Instead we will commence tomorrow night, we'll begin our new game at that time as I want you to get used to your current abilities." He made himself clear, then continued.

"For now, you're free to go. I'll see you when you sleep again. Next time in a different world from own personal domain. Take me warning though, the horrors you will have face, will make your siblings look cute if manage to beat that world and it's trials."

Beatrice blinked at him, a bit confused, but just nodded before asking. "Wait, so I can just do whatever I want, Mr. D!?" She asked. After all, her existence now belonged to him, or so she thought.

"I don't care what you do." Dante replied casually. "It is your free time. My main focus is making you a strong avatar. So yes, when you're not inside one of my worlds, you're free to live as you always have. Still, this is only the beginning. I can't wait for tomorrow's adventure. For now, enjoy your new power."

"Wait, I still have a few more questio... But before Beatrice could ask anything else, Dante snapped his fingers. In an instant, she was back where she had left off, awake in her own body as the dream came to an end.

The world around her began to move again, time resuming its flow. She found herself kneeling in the same spot, the candles around her now snuffed out, a burning sensation searing her hand.

All the voices of the spirits had gone silent, leaving her alone in the darkness of the enclosed room. But unlike before, she emerged Awaken.
