Gallagher felt the uneasiness in the air but did not let it show. Refusing to answer the Lord would be foolish, especially when he still intended to remain and wait for Evangeline. And truthfully, part of him was trying to understand Hades as well.
His childhood friend is currently living in a man's household and what's worse, it's the Lord known to bear a curse. Not wanting for Evangeline to be in danger, he need to make sure that this person was truly a safe space.
"I do know of her," Gallagher said evenly. "Her name is Serena. I assume you have seen her as well, milord?"
"I have seen all of Evangeline's family members," Hades replied. His tone was calm, almost detached. "What kind of person do you think her younger sister is?"
Gallagher paused longer this time, thinking carefully instead of answering on impulse. "…Ambitious."
"Ambitious," Hades repeated. The word lingered in the air between them after it left his words as though it was being judged.
