The sound of the knock startled both the women. Mrs Crestmont who hadn't been receiving any visitors as all the villagers had begun to avoid her after hearing the mess in which they were brought to the dungeon by a Seraphess, was startled by the lock knock.
Usually she wouldn't be in fear over the slightest knock, she would be happy even, thinking that perhaps it's a suitor or someone coming to once again praise Serena's beauty. But after the dungeon, she knew that the knock could either come from one of the Seraphess's men who found her existence an eyesore.
Fearing for her life, Mrs Crestmont and Serena stayed quiet, hoping for whoever had knocked on the door to quickly scram from the place. It didn't work as the person knocked again, this time louder and angrier, as if annoyed that it was being ignored.
"Mama... check the door!" Serena cried and Mrs Crestmont only moved when she egged on her more while pushing her back.
