Chapter 76 - 76. When did this happen?

In the next room, Lara is asleep, her head resting on the edge of Zain's bed.

Zain wide awake.

Daisy pauses. "You're not waking her up?"

Zain shakes his head slightly. "Let her sleep a little longer."

Daisy gives him an okay sign. "How are you feeling now?"

"Better," he replies.

She smiles and quietly leaves the room.

Lara wakes to soft whispers and suddenly realizes Zain is awake.

"Doctor!" she cries, jumping up.

Zain catches her wrist gently. "Calm down. He was here ten minutes ago—checked everything while you were asleep."

She exhales. "You can move now? No more paralysis?"

"None," Zain says. "The doctor was surprised at how fast I recovered. Still ordered rest, though."

"Thank God," she breathes, shoulders dropping.

Zain's eyes sharpen.

"Why did you run inside when the place was filled with toxic gas? It could've exploded any second."

"I didn't want to lose you," she says quietly. "Not again. I hate watching the people I love die."

Zain looks at her, searching.

"So… you love me, little rabbit?"

Lara doesn't answer right away. She just looks at him—soft, honest, vulnerable.

"I do," she finally says.

Zain smiles, pulling her into a careful hug and pressing a gentle kiss to her head.

"Easy," she murmurs. "You're still a patient. Don't push yourself."

He closes his eyes, holding her just the same.

Six months later — Wedding Hall

"You look stunning," Lara whispered, adjusting Daisy's veil.

Daisy swallowed, nerves and excitement tangled together.

"Do you think Rain will like it?"

Lara smiled, eyes soft. "He's head over heels for you. I'm damn sure he's going to freeze the moment he sees you—marrying the girl he loved, and promised to protect, since you were kids."

Daisy smiled, blinking back emotion.

Her grandfather walked beside her as she moved down the aisle. Just watching her walk towards Rain made the tough, unshakable man tear up. Rain stood frozen, eyes glistening, breath caught somewhere between disbelief and gratitude.

Zain gently tapped Rain's shoulder, grounding him.

Daisy and Rain stood facing each other, the world narrowing to just the two of them.

They spoke their vows together.

"I promise to stand by you for life."

"I promise to protect you and love you with all my heart."

They sealed the promise with a kiss—soft, steady, sure.

Zain and Lara exchanged a glance, smiling quietly, happy for their friends, for a love that had survived everything.

Nearby, Adam leaned toward Ben.

"If Lara is willing, I think she and Zain would make a great pair."

Ben chuckled. "They fight like hell. But.....yes—those two? They're meant to be."

The ceremony ended, and now they were officially Mr. and Mrs. Rain. Elders blessed them, friends crowded around with laughter and congratulations—and a few naughty gifts that left Daisy blushing and Rain laughing helplessly.

Then came the final ritual,

Daisy turned and tossed the bouquet.

It flew straight into Lara's arms.

The hall erupted in cheers.

Lara froze for a second, then walked straight to Zain and placed the bouquet in his hands.

"Will you marry me, Zain?" she asked softly, a little shy, heart pounding.

Adam and Ben stared, stunned.

When did this happen? they wondered.

Zain smiled. "Yes, my little rabbit."

Just when everyone thought it was over, Zain suddenly knelt down.

"Uncle Ben. Dad," he said, steady but emotional, "if you have no objections, I would like to marry the love of my life."

He opened the ring box, waiting.

Adam and Ben nodded without hesitation.

Zain looked at Rain and Daisy—they smiled and nodded too.

Finally, he looked up at Lara.

"I would love to," she said, voice trembling with joy.

Zain slid the ring onto her finger, kissed her forehead, and pulled her into a hug.

Rain and Daisy cheered, and the entire hall followed—applause, laughter, happiness spilling everywhere.
