Chapter 10 - 10. Honey, that was dirty!

Lara was done babysitting this grown man. She returned from a call.

"There's archery! Let's go over there," Zain said.

"No! We're heading back home now!" Lara replied firmly.

Sensing the shift in her tone after the call, Zain decided not to mess with her anymore.

"Okay, no more games… but we can still roam around, right? I wanna see the city," he tried, pushing his luck.

"No. Spare some for the coming days in City A," Lara replied assertively.

On their way back home, Lara suddenly took a sharp U-turn and sped up out of nowhere. She had just spotted the City B underworld don, Dane's car.

"Hey, aren't we going home?" Zain asked, gripping the seat.

"Not for now. You wanted to see more of City A, right? We're doing that today," Lara said, eyes fixed on the road as she weaved through traffic like it was a video game.

"Cool, I'm down for it!" Zain said—half excited, half terrified—as the car drifted around a turn.

"Woo!"

"Girl!"

"Dude!"

"Honey, that was dirty!" Zain shouted as the car took another tight drift, barely missing a pole.

Lara's hair flew loose, the wind brushing against her face. She grinned and glanced at Zain.

"Isn't this way better than that rollercoaster?" she teased.

"Totally! But why the hell are we chasing him?" Zain asked, curiosity kicking in.

Lara didn't bother answering. Her focus stayed locked on the road ahead.

The chase tore through the streets, horns blaring, tires screaming. Lara's hands gripped the wheel like it was built for her. Every drift was clean, precise—pure muscle memory.

Zain leaned back in his seat, watching her. Not a flicker of fear on his face. Just that crooked grin that said he liked what he saw.

"You do this often?" he asked over the roar of the engine.

"Only when someone pisses me off," Lara said, shifting gears without missing a beat.

The black sedan ahead tried to lose them, cutting sharply into a narrow lane. Lara didn't hesitate. She followed, pulling a clean drift that sent smoke curling around them.

"Beautiful," Zain muttered, eyes never leaving her.

"What?" She shot him a glare—focused, sharp.

"The turn," he replied, still smirking. "You drive like you've done this your whole life."

Lara didn't respond—just gave a faint smirk, the kind that said you have no idea.

As the chase hit the main road, the black car tried one last move—a sudden swerve into open ground.

Lara's lips curved. "Gotcha," she whispered.

She yanked the handbrake, spun the car full circle, and cut right in front of the sedan, blocking its path completely.

The black car screeched to a halt, stopping just inches from her bumper.
