Chapter 109 - C109-V2: Dolls Misadventurers

C109-V2: Dolls Misadventurers

Nice to 'see' everyone again. it has been a month since my last release.

Quite a bit happened since then. but first, id like to teach you all some math. Ahem. By my original work schedule, I publish every 3 days. Which means with 30 or so days in a month, I release 10 chapters a month. you keeping with me so far?

well, in this brief month. I am currently up to c116 on saved up chapters. That means, including this chapter. I wrote 7 chapters for this book. along with another 6 for a completely new book that is a patreon exlusive for now (the first 4 are free whether your a member or not). That means, I have written 13 chapters in this past month. without time constraints.

I still havent decided whether I want to remain constraint free and publish in bulk when I feel like it or continue my every three days. So tell me your opinions on this matter. Did you like the current slow progress or would you prefer a bulk release at the end of the week or whatever I can make in such a time period?

You may thank Uncle GrimGoard from Space Battle Forum for giving me the proper inspiration to write like this instead of just taking a random ass break and doing nothing since I wasn't be pressured to do anything except by my own code.

The stories here will be in third person, so enjoy for everyone who prefers that format enjoy. We will be returning to your regularly scheduled gore-fest of soulsborne pleasures soon enough.

------------------------------------------------------------

Walking briskly through the tattered flower garden. The Doll approaches a certain black figure. She croaches down and strokes the body of the figure tenderly.

"Oh dear hunter, are you cold?" She speaks and lifts the now squid state of the Hunter. The last of his kind, now transformed into that of a Great One.

"Worry not, I am here for you" She rises but snags her dress on the hilt of the moonlight greatsword. She could only heft the hunter's body onto one arm while the other lifts up the sword which she brings back to the, no longer burning, workshop and sets down.

She continues walking back and forth, picking up the remaining two weapons as well, Null and the Saw Cleaver. He left his personal axe with her. A means for protection when he himself could not use it and chose to focus on the present rather than the past.

Once all three weapons were deposited within a collective sheathe for all three does she finally sit and rest with the Hunter in her arms.

"Ah" a blue block suddenly appears before her.

[Greetings Doll, I am the Hunters system. His long time companion, similar to yourself who had been strengthening the lord so that he could overwhelm my original master.]

"I see. Pleasure to meet you" She rises and curtsies, not understanding that the conversation is mental.

"What have you need of me now to speak at such a time?" She questions as while she is compliant, she is also protective of her dear Hunter. She has seen all the changes the hunter has gone through.

While the system was never named specifically. She knows that someone near him granted him these abilities. Abilities that caused him endless suffering but also had been the medium for his final triumph.

As a result, she can't remain mad at this 'creature'.

[The master has been granted his freedom, he is now the master of Dreams. As a result, he may freely travel. I briefly understand that at your leisure, he could be awoken. I would personally wait a few weeks so that his own formerly human mind could adapt to his new body and sensations.] The system explains that it's better to not rush to use the token Doll retains. A silver coin that morphs as it adapts to the Hunter's former human face. Including the details of his new eyes.

One a reflection of the sun, with a golden red rim that surrounds his Iris and bleeds out a flame like texture into his pupil. Meanwhile the other has a similar rim around the iris yet this one is gray while blue green feeds into his pupil.

Granted it's hard to even see his eyes since his squid form appears unconscious yet still squirming.

"I see. What do you recommend?" Doll asks as Yharnam is all she has ever known.

[Through the master's unspokenly plentiful memories (for a fragment of a soul of such size), there have been a magnitude of unclaimed worlds that we could travel to as a platform for him to retain a portion of his humanity, lest he simply become a replica of the previous 'Moon Presence'. Alternatively, it would also help you further explore Human emotions to further bond with the master.]

"I…see. I believe this would be good. Yet I know not the customs of these lands. I would surely be overwhelmed." She agrees to the idea but is uncertain about her own lacking knowledge to protect the Hunter.

[Fear not. The master was a 'subtitles' enjoyer and thus his memory retains both the writing and sound of speech in these other worlds. I can feed these to you and allow you to smoothly communicate with others there. I will appear as needed to provide support.]

"Very well. Then what would be the first lands we should visit"

[A world where monsters and beasts walk amongst men in attempted harmony. These 'monsters' used to live in a segregated community by their own choice before coming out to the outside world. They hope to merge into human society. You both will be listed amongst their count as you are a puppet human while the master is now a Great One in the form of a squid.]

The system provides her a series of language lessons whilst providing the generalized plot to one of the simplest worlds in the anime multiverse.

A portal appears near the back entrance of the workshop. Doll covers up the Hunter and then slings the sheathed blades over her shoulder before looking around for anything else she could need for a lengthy travel but doesnt spot anything else she could need.

She communes with the system a bit more to see if it could tell her if they would need anything else before getting a few coldblood echoes for her ability usage and as such could be exchanged for currency in these foreign lands through the nature of payment for services rendered.

She doesnt think she would need this but it may be deemed necessary to ensure their protection.

With the hunter's axe joining the repertoire of blades, she steps into the portal and the environment around her distorts.

"Woah"

"Whats going on?"

"Who is this?"

A collection of voices surround Doll as she finds herself inside a new building. A gathering of both human and monstrous women surround Doll as they reach for a variety of weapons.

At first, Doll struggled with understanding the language but after a few moments of thinking, she soon understood what they even said. She curties with a greeting.

"Hello" (All speech will be japanese for now.)

The four girls lower their guns and police batons as the door slams open with an agent looking women, clad in a full business suit, pantyhose and a set of black sunglasses worn indoors checks up on the M.O.N. unit under her supervision after hearing a commotion.

"Whats going….on?"

"Hello, I was informed that upon my arrival here, I would be able to apply for Asylum and mingle amongst humankind.

"Ah" Kuroko Smith simply states as she rubs her forehead, a headache coming on due to the sudden addition to her work pile of paper that she will likely have to go through.

….

…..

"Huh. you mean to tell me that you have no paperwork. No known home to return to and just have a collection of medieval weaponry that can shoot off energy beams?" Smith sums up the collection of information she had obtained from the Doll before her.

A gathering of fellow agents and police folk had gathered at the stab wound inflicted upon the poor floor from the moonlight greatsword stabbing there to showcase it's sharp point before lightly swinging and ruining a nearby wall and window.

Doll had apologized as she did not think it would all shatter so easily. Having grown so used to the indestructible nature of all Yharnam buildings and structures she had heard about from the Hunter that she could not predict this.

Smith can see the obvious panic in her expression as she simply coaxes the puppet woman to put the blade away, The shimmering blade is deactivated before being put away.

Smith didn't hold back on inspecting the remaining 3. A chainsaw sword that could switch to a normal rapier style sword, there is a cleaver with saw blades attached. There is the aforementioned greatsword that greatly damages the surroundings. Though Smith doesnt understand how doll got it to shimmer like she did, even repeating the same gesture and looking for a button doesnt tell her anything.

Then there is the handheld axe that from Doll she learned could have the handle be extended to proto-halberd, still an axe just handled differently.

Doll informs her that they are referred to as 'Trick' weapons, specifically weapons that have a button or action that changes their function, either longer range, electricity or ranged usage.

"I…I see. I think that is enough about you and the weapons, can you tell me about the baby?"

"Ah, this is the Hunter ... .my dear Hunter." Doll introduces, a notable smile graces her face as she enunciates her proclamation.

"I see…what is his name? Is it Hunter?" Smith simply tries to go along with the craziness that is today. She was supposed to go check on her charge who had only recently gotten his first Liminal Girl, aka live in Monster Girl. A lamia by the name of Mia.

Yet here Smith is now, trying to process an unidentifiable puppet girl and her supposed child

"The dear hunter has abandoned his original name once the original partner of his soul was killed by his foster father, Gehrman. Since…half an hour ago, he has been nameless I..." Doll is soon interrupted as Smith has a shocked expression on her face at the one two three punch, each striking her Solar Plexus.

"CHOTOMATE" Smith yells out in shock for Doll to stop as she just heard a bunch of absurd things casually stated by the Doll.

Panting, she sits down as she attempts to rationalize the situation as she tentatively asks, "So the child is a zombie?" having just heard the 'hunter' was killed, it was the natural assumption.

The Doll shakes her head but then stops as she ponders it for a moment before questionably saying. "He was human but then died via suicide before being revived, then had his soul killed by his foster father and then my Dear Hunter took over and became a Great One."

"Okay, so you're saying he is this so-called Great One. let's start with that. What is a Great One? "

"I believe it's commonly referred here as an Eldritch God"

BANG.

"Miss Doll, I don't think you are taking this seriously. Gods don't exist. Or at least, we haven't found anything like that. We have various monsters, tribe leaders, their children and even nobility but not gods. Closest would be certain rare races that we have cataloged as being possibly related to ancient religions of foreign lands like the Fenrir." Smith vehemently refuses such a statement, she chooses to get to the bottom of the situation one way or another as Doll seems to be lacking necessary common sense to answer her properly.

She uses hand motions to the M.O.N. squad as they surround Doll. Tionishia, a female Ogre, rests her hands on Doll's shoulders, keeping her pinned down while Manako and Doppel grab Doll's arms so that Zombina could whisk away the wrapped 'baby'.

"Hehehe, I got them. Now let's see what's here. Huh? It's just an octopus." She states in confusion after gazing for a moment at the Hunter. She cleanly speaks before something zips through her head in a metaphorical state.

"A squid….not sure what's so godly about that. Is it an elude to Cthulhu?" still doesnt…" "AHHH, Noo, stop that. Don't show me anymore." Smith was cut off in her negligent speech as she spots Zombina squirming around in place, before tossing the 'squid' up into the air, ripping off her own head from her stitching and smashing it against the wall where she fell over unconscious.

The trio of M.O.N. are in shock but not negligent in their duties, yet Doll still casually stands up against their hold and moves forward with the three monster girls in tow to catch the Hunter in her hands before wrapping him up again.

"Rule number one: Thou shalt not look at God" Doll precisely states with a deep seriousness as Smith can only shiver at that proclamation as she checks up on Zombina who is primarily fine with the exception of being knocked unconscious.

….

….

Smith could only have Doll and the Hunter settled in the police station for a few hours as she reassures of the health of Zombina, both physical and mental.

She hears a partial story from Zombina before she shuts herself away. She got her lost memories back. The series of events that led to her having her limbs cut off and then reattached before her death. She already knew some of them but now she was forced to relive them all, including the pain associated with them.
