Chapter 106 - Chapter 105

Service Club Room — After School,

Not paying much attention to Yukinoshita's cold glare, Hikigaya Hachiman pulled a chair from the other side of the room and sat down across from them.

The chair scraped the floor with an unpleasant sound.

He leaned back lazily, as if he had already given up on life.

But then—

His dead-fish eyes again look at the kitten on the table, carefully now.

A small, fluffy kitten.

White fur.

Blue eyes.

A tiny pink nose.

It was staring right back at him, alert and curious.

Hachiman blinked once.

Then blinked again.

"…A kitten?"

His voice was flat, but there was genuine surprise underneath.

You know, Sobu High School strictly forbade bringing pets into the campus. Even small animals weren't allowed inside.

So what in the world was a kitten doing inside the Service Club room?

Hachiman's gaze slowly shifted.

Naturally, it landed on the biggest troublemaker and mostly culprit in the room.

Gojo Satoru.

Gojo was sitting there casually, when he noticed Hachiman staring, he grinned. "What? Yeah, I brought it in. What are you gonna do about it?"

Hachiman: "…"

"…No, I'm not blaming you," Hachiman said, sounding tired already. "I'm just wondering how you even brought it in. Sobu High is strict about this kind of thing, isn't it? Sensei, How did you get it in?"

Gojo shrugged. "I'm a teacher."

Hachiman's lips twitched.

"…That's not an explanation."

Gojo smiled wider.

"That's the only explanation you need."

While talking, Hachiman slowly extended his right hand toward the kitten.

But the moment his hand got close—

Vanilla's ears flattened, shifting it's body and in one smooth movement, it sidestepped his hand and scooted closer to Yukino.

Then it made a sharp warning sound.

"Meow! Hiss—!"

Hachiman froze, hand stopping in midair.

"…So it doesn't like me," he said quietly.

Then he withdrew his hand with a dry, self-deprecating smile.

Yukino stroked Vanilla gently, her expression calm.

"As expected."

Hachiman looked at her.

"…As expected?"

Yukino's voice remained flat, while comforting Vanilla.

"Dead-fish eyes are still dead-fish eyes. Vanilla wouldn't like it."

{T/N: she is a cat, she should love dead fish...}

"So the dead-fish eyes hurdle is impossible to pass, huh…?"

Hikigaya Hachiman, who was already powerless to refute, could only silently accept this nickname.

Gojo leaned back, laughing like he had just witnessed the funniest tragedy.

"Hahahaha—!"

Hachiman's eye twitched.

"…Why are you laughing like you won an award?"

Gojo wiped imaginary tears.

"Because I'm happy."

Hachiman sighed.

He didn't even have the energy to argue.

Instead, he stood up, walked to the bookshelf, and pulled out a random book. Then he sat down again and began reading.

Or rather—

He pretended to read.

Because beside him, Gojo and Yukino were still completely focused on Vanilla.

Gojo suddenly reached into his pocket.

Yukino noticed immediately.

Her eyes narrowed.

"…What is that?"

Gojo's grin became suspicious.

"Nothing."

Yukino's tone sharpened.

"Gojo-sensei."

Gojo didn't say anything as he casually pulled out a small packet—

Cat Treats.

Yukino: "…"

Hachiman, still holding his book, glanced up with one eye. "…You carry catnip in your pocket?"

Gojo answered proudly. "Yes."

Hachiman: "…Why?"

Gojo smiled.

"Because I'm prepared."

Then he placed the cat treat in front of Vanilla.

The kitten sniffed once.

Then twice.

Then—

Its eyes widened.

It began licking the catnip enthusiastically.

Its little body started swaying slightly.

Its posture turned soft.

Its expression turned… strangely blissful.

Vanilla looked like it had entered another dimension.

"Meooow…"

Gojo's shoulders shook.

He pulled out his phone.

"HAHAHAHA! This is amazing!"

He pulled out his phone with one hand and started recording a video immediately.

"I'm going to show this to Benio when I get home and to Umaru too."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door

Knock-Knock-Knock!

Yukino immediately straightened her posture, her expression became serious, like a proper club president.

"Please come in."

Creak~

The door opened again.

This time—

A girl stepped inside.

Blonde hair.

Bright red eyes.

A fashionable presence.

It was—

Kitagawa Marin.

The moment she entered, her eyes scanned the room.

Then—

They landed on Gojo Satoru.

Her face instantly turned red.

Like a switch flipped.

"…G-Gojo-sensei…"

Her voice came out shy and small.

She remembered what happened earlier that morning.

The embarrassing moment.

Marin's cheeks burned.

Her hands fidgeted awkwardly.

Yukino's eyes narrowed.

Immediately, she sensed something.

Something had definitely happened between these two.

Hachiman, behind his book, also quietly glanced over.

Even he could tell.

This was not normal.

Yukino looked between Marin and Gojo.

Then spoke softly.

"…Kitagawa-san?"

Marin blinked, snapping out of her shy haze before she quickly forced her usual cheerful expression.

"Yes! Um! I heard this is the Service Club. The club that can help with anything!"

Gojo leaned back, folding his arms dramatically, instead of Yukino he decided to take on the burden of introducing the club.

"That's right. This is the famous Service Club. Whether it's helping you participate in World War II or hunting dragon…or even negotiating peace treaties between two underground dark factions, it can help you complete it satisfactorily!."

Marin's jaw dropped.

"Huh?! That's so strong?!"

Yukino's forehead twitched, she spoke with absolute coldness.

"Do not listen to his nonsense."

This black-bellied teacher really can out-ran the train with just his mouth! He's talking as if he had even participate in World War II and hunt dragons. Let alone the World War II, which is more than 70 years past from today, just talk about dragons. Are there dragons in this world?

Gojo smiled.

"It's not nonsense."

Yukino glared at him.

"There are no dragons in this world."

Gojo shrugged.

"Have you checked?"

Yukino: "..."

Hachiman quietly muttered under his breathe.

"…This teacher will get the school destroyed one day."

Marin finally noticed the kitten. Her eyes widen as she looked at the fluffy kitten, her whole face lit up as she exclaimed.

"Waaaah! A kitty?!"

She rushed forward with quick steps, almost bouncing.

.... Something was clearly bouncing.

Her hands hovered near Vanilla, but she didn't touch immediately.

Seeing that longing look, Yukinoshita Yukino hesitated for a while and said.

"It's called Vanilla."

Marin repeated it happily.

"Vanilla?! That's such a cute name!"

Gojo smirked from the side.

"Yukino named it."

Marin looked even more impressed.

"Wow! Yukinoshita-san, you're amazing!"

Yukino looked away slightly.

"…It's nothing."

Then Yukino spoke calmly.

"You may hold it, if you want."

Marin's face lit up like fireworks.

"Really?!"

She leaned in, smiling warmly.

"Vanilla~ Come into onee-san's arms!"

"Meow!"

Without hesitation—

Vanilla jumped straight into Marin's arms.

Like it had been waiting for this moment its whole life.

Marin hugged it gently.

Her expression was pure happiness.

"Aaaaah! So fluffy!"

Vanilla rubbed its head against her chest, purring softly at how comfortable it feels between the two soft cushion.

{T/N: It should have been me, not herrrrrr}

Hachiman stared, eyes widening at the sight.

When—

His chair suddenly tilted, as he falls down—dramatically slow.

BANG!

Hachiman fell straight to the ground with the chair.

The sound echoed through the room.

Marin froze.

Yukino blinked.

Gojo placed his hand on his mouth, suppressing the laughter that was threatening to came out.

Hachiman rubbed his aching back, still lying on the floor. His face was full of disbelief, as he continue to stare at the Kitty.

How is that possible…?

When I just tried to touch it, and it even hissed at me as a warning…But when a beautiful girl comes in and it jumps into her arms instantly?!

His face grew darker, as he couldn't help but say his complain,

"…Discrimination..."

Gojo on the opposite side laughed even harder, mockingly, he couldn't hold himself back—not after seeing the look on his face...but quickly put away his expression.

Hey, don't think I didn't see the way you mocked me just now, hey!

Hachiman complain inwardly as he stood up slowly, his back still aching—his heart already broken. He rearranged his chair, and sat down again. Hikigu Hachiman chose to keep looking at the book. Not carrying about what is going on in the world, not carrying about the soft suppressed chuckle that he can clearly hear!

'I'm going to pretend I don't exist.'

"So cute."

Holding Vanilla and holding it high, Kitagawa Marin looked really happy, as she decided to ignore the poor guy who look like he has taken emotional damage.

After teasing Vanilla ecstatically for a few minutes, she suddenly froze as she remember something.

...Wait, didn't I come to entrust things?

Then carefully placed Vanilla back on the table, Kitagawa Marin stuck her tongue out with an embarrassed smile, as she said,

"I almost forgot why I came here!"

"It's fine. Please tell us your request." Yukinoshita Yukino said solemnly.

This was the first real commission the Service Club had received since Yukino officially established it.

If they handled this well…Their reputation would spread.

And soon, there would be more requests.

That was how it was supposed to work.

Marin pressed her cheeks with both hands, thinking.

"Well…"

She hesitated. As she glanced at them one more time before smiling awkwardly.

"Actually…I want to commission you to help me make clothes."

Gojo, who had been scrolling his phone, immediately raised his head.

His interest was obvious,

It's seem this student of mine is preparing for a cosplay..

Hachiman also glanced up slightly, his expression thoughtful. Not playing attention to the little devil who was destroying the table with its tiny paw.

Yukino hesitated, her eyes shifted away for a moment as she looked at Marin.

"…Clothes...I… don't know how to sew."

Hachiman, putting his book down, sighed.

"…Neither do I."

Yukino's gaze turned toward him.

"…As expected."

Hachiman: "Why are you acting like you expected failure from me?!"

Yukino replied calmly.

"Because you're Hikigaya Hachiman."

Hachiman: "That's not an explanation either."
