Armand and Alaric got to their apartment in Armand's car. The day had been long, and ever since the call Felicia made at the cafeteria, unease had settled deep in Armand's chest. He'd tried calling her again and again, but he got no reply. That alone made his jaw clench.
Alaric was the first to step out of the car, slamming the door shut harder than necessary. Armand followed, his movements controlled, his face unreadable as usual. They walked inside without a word.
The moment the door closed behind them, the air shifted. Someone else was already there.
Seated comfortably in the living room like he owned the place was their master.
Armand didn't so much react. His face remained calm, carved from stone.
Alaric, on the other hand, stiffened instantly. His jaw tightened as his hand curled into fist.
The master leaned back in the chair, crossing one leg over the other, completely at ease. He glanced between them, lips curled into a faint smile.
