Chapter 23 - DESIRE IS BLIND...

He moaned her name like a prayer as she descended on him. She took a minute to look at him. "Beautiful..." She whispered.

Few years ago...

Sloane watched from a distance as Acacia adjusted her husband's tie. Shaw used to be her own husband and Acacia used to be her best friend. She watched as Shaw drove off to work and Acacia stood there with a content smile as she rubbed her belly and this too was how she used to be but she was bitten by a green snake in a green grass. She had confided in her friend about the issue of having difficulties with having a child and the discomfort of having a sour relationship with her mother in law due to this issue. Little did she know that her best friend was trying to push her out and take over. She discovered that a bit too late after she was successfully cast aside and what really that broke her was the fact that she had drugged her husband and slept with him which led to her pregnancy which she used to tie him down. Sloane also found out that she was also drugged... The medications Acacia had given her were meant to help her in her journey of child birth but what she didn't know was that it was a birth control pill with very terrible side effects and she had taken them without asking since she trusted her "best friend" who convinced her to take it cos it helped her aunt when she was having the same issue.

This betrayal tore her apart!

She had left... Got divorced and lived a secluded life filled with sorrow and pain and the burning need for revenge against all of them especially Acacia!

An evil smile was pasted on her face as she drove off, it was already five years since these incidents occurred and she was back to take her pound of flesh and give the druggie a taste of her own medicine.

Just around the time Sloane knew he'd be done with work and on his way home she waited for him. Her car parked directly opposite his across the street. As Shaw walked out with his secretary, about entering his car, he saw her... And time stopped! Shaw shut his eyes and opened them only to see her elegantly walking into her car, her hair neatly flowing behind her. Unconsciously Shaw took a step forward then another one and another until he was already sprinting towards her shocking his sectary who didn't know why his boss was running across the street. Shaw on the other hand had only one thing in mind... To see her... Confirm that she was his Sloane who he had searched everywhere for. There were so many emotions written all over his face, his heart racing with the wind in his ears and without looking out for any moving car he ran but before he could get to her, she drove off.

"Sloane! Sloane!" But she didn't hear him. He cursed and ran back to his car.

"Catch a taxi" with that he zoomed off following behind the love of his life. But just like before he lost her. Shaw banged the Sterling wheel severally out of anger and frustration. How did it happen? He was directly behind her so how did it happen? Shaw spent another hour waiting and another driving around. He desperately needed to see her, maybe the empty void in his heart would go away. Dejectedly he drove home with Sloane watching him from a car park with a mix of emotions in her eyes but her lips curled up in a smirk.

The next day, Shaw had people all over the place discreetly searching for her, he even waited to see if she'd show up the place he first saw her. Nothing... Absolutely nothing.

A week past and Acacia noticed the change in her husband. He was hardly at home, always on call, searching for what she couldn't explain, but something in her gut kept screaming danger... But she just didn't know what it was so she also watched him. She worked too hard to get him and won't let anyone spoil it.

A month later

Sloane got into a taxi after her morning workouts and was on her way home. She looked at the rear mirror and smiled as she saw Shaw's car racing behind her. Finally she was dropped off at her front door. It was a private compound, as she stepped out and walked towards the door a hand suddenly grabbed her arm and spun her around and she found herself staring into the face of the one who used to be her husband. Her hazel eyes met his amber ones, his gaze deep and full of so much emotions starring at hers as well. After all she never really stopped loving him, he got prettier but had so much dark eye bags which made him look so tired but that didn't affect his eyes which were as clear as day or his beauty, if anything, it just made him look like a beauty in distress.

Shaw was torn between screaming at her, scolding her, hugging her, kissing her and throwing her over his shoulder and taking her home and never letting her out of his sight. But he... He missed her so much that seeing her face... He felt like he could breathe again as the tears pooled in his eyes and he drew her into a hug. He held her tight that his whole frame almost covered her completely but he didn't care as he kept her head on his chest to his beating and heavy heart.
