It turns out that men and women are indeed different. Although Natalie Vaughn didn't seem hurt on the surface, by the time they got home that evening and Zane Thorne saw the marks on her, his face looked extremely grim.
Her skin was delicate, and there were imprints of the seatbelt on her shoulders, waist, and abdomen. During the day, she was too excited to notice anything unusual.
Now that she was aware of the marks, there was a faint sense of pain, but it was minor. However, Zane's worried expression made Natalie chuckle.
"It only looks scary; you know my skin is like that."

Because of her skin condition, the house was now stocked with ointments to remove marks.
Zane didn't say anything, likely reminded of the fear he felt during the day by the seatbelt marks. He fetched some ointment and started applying it to Natalie.
