Maya watched Quentin Rowe and Erin Hayes in a heated argument, and she really had no interest in getting involved.
Maya turned around, planning to leave quickly while they weren't paying attention.
She walked briskly.

Maya's footsteps didn't falter, regardless of Quentin's shouting from behind; she wouldn't stop.
No matter what Quentin thought, Maya wouldn't care; she'd just pretend she hadn't heard anything.
Suddenly, a young child's voice rang out, "Sister-in-law!"
The voice carried a crying tone.
