Desire, something every person has, no matter how little or how grand, there will always be that inner craving that a man has in his heart.
Sometimes we cannot control desire or how it may lead us. Lust, greed, wrath, and more, they form the basis of all human desires, the origin of it all.
Desire may be good or bad; it's not really fixed and does not fall into any known setup. It is fluid, sculpted to match the person that has that desire.
What then would be the desire of a young lady thrust into this world, her past a blank page, her story erased from it all?
She stands as though she was built to serve, and her desires have no meaning in this world. She looks upon others with wishful eyes as they do what they desire, whereas she is stuck, unable to go back to her past and incapable of moving forward.
She believed herself to be trapped, living a life with no true desire, because if she allowed her desire, she would be consumed by it and her past. But what happens when a ray of light suddenly sprouts?
It shows her that the past she has run from isn't the only part of her life, and the future that she was unsure of has many paths. Because of this light, a new purpose begins to grow, slowly, yet steadily, and maybe one day, a new purpose and desire will open to her.
[....]
Raze descended into the depths of the cave, his feet touching the cold, muddy floor, sinking inside with a wet sound. The sound of water dripping reached his ears first, coming down in a strict and eerie rhythm.
The air was thick and heavy; the smell of rot and dirt filled the air, and the cold darkness hugged their bodies.
Raze lifted his hand; a flame lit on his palm, illuminating the surroundings even more. The light given from the opening above could only go so far, once they stepped further, it vanished.
The men that stood with him looked around in awe, shocked at the inside of the cave. Walls filled with shiny metallic ores and more, it was as though they had fallen into a treasure trove.
Raze looked around, a smile forming on his face. His father had been sitting on so much wealth, yet he had no idea. If not for God's Eyes, they would have been struggling to pull themselves from their current state.
"Keep your eyes peeled. We don't know if there could be something here," Raze said.
'Well, there is definitely something here, but only I know that. Thinking about it, what if that thing is something extremely hard for me to control? I am very unprepared to come here.
But seriously, what can I realistically do in preparation? The knights of this town are shit, I can't ask my brothers, and I don't think there is anyone in the entire town strong enough for me to rely on.
Maybe my father, but I'm not asking him. Tsk, seems I'll have to tackle whatever is there myself,' Raze thought. He looked at the men; there was no way he was bringing them along with him. They could die there, and he didn't want their blood on his hands.
He decided to call out to those above and ask that torches be brought. It took a few minutes, but the torches arrived, and he lit them, handing one to each man.
He scanned the surroundings with God's Eyes and saw all the directions that didn't lead to the creature, so he asked them all to look through those sides and tell him of whatever important thing they found.
With each man gone, he could finally focus on the path that led to the creature. He walked in that direction, God's Eyes on full blast, he wasn't taking any chances with his life.
His footsteps echoed against the wall; the deeper he went, the more it transitioned into warmth. He was focused on the creature, and despite the fact that it looked to be asleep or resting, he had this heavy feeling in his heart that it was watching him approach.
'Curiosity killed the cat, that's me, always wanting to know. What the hell am I even doing here? I should be running away from it, not approaching,' Raze thought.
After a few minutes of walking, the flame on his hand went out. He tried to ignite it again, but the flame came on and went out again, something was stopping him.
That was the moment he noticed two glowing eyes piercing through the darkness. He tried to look at it with God's Eyes, but it was immediately shot down, and he suffered a heavy backlash. He was hit with a head-splitting pain.
"Arghhhh!" He staggered backward, legs weak, eyes heavy, his concentration all over the place.
"Insect, you have intruded on my sleep for many days now, and now you have dragged yourself to come and face me."
Raze heard a voice right in his mind, it made his head scream in pain. He collapsed to his knees and instantly coughed up blood, eyes red, his insides a mess just from listening to those words.
He looked up, gaze shaky, rather than a look of pain, there was a look of fascination in his eyes.
"You knew that I was watching you?" he managed to speak through his bloody teeth.
"Hmmm, I was. I sensed you looking at me for days now. An insect like you wants to spy on me? Insulting."
The voice hurt as much as the last. Raze coughed blood again, his mind already spinning around, he felt like he would pass out any moment.
"P-please... I just want to ta-talk," he managed to speak; it was harder to speak now, the pain in his mind immense.
'Did I mess up by coming here? Only words have driven me to my knees. I can barely speak. What sort of creature has this much power? I don't want to die here. No, I'm not dying. There's so much for me to live for in this world, dying isn't part of it.'
