The little guy came to stand in front of Sherry, his round eyes wide open, gazing at her with a happy expression mixed with some confusion on his chubby face.
"Aunt Sherry, are you really my mom?" he blinked, then asked again with a hint of uncertainty.
In those round eyes, there was an incredibly pure look of anticipation and worry.
He was worried Aunt Sherry would say she wasn't his mom.
The little guy's words made Sherry pause, and as she looked at Nathaniel, who was now eagerly gazing at her, she felt a wave of guilt and sadness inside her.
She looked at the little guy with tears already welling up, unable to hold back her choked voice, she spoke with deep remorse.
"I'm sorry, it's all my fault..."
It was all her fault for not investigating thoroughly back then, not knowing this child was still alive, causing her own son to think she had died and grieve all this time.
To Nathaniel, she really wasn't a good mother!
