Late at night, Su Juan climbed up to the attic, leaned against the railing, felt the biting cold night wind, and gazed at the scene below. Large red lanterns were hung high; in two days, it would be New Year's Eve, and another year would have passed.
"What are you thinking about?" A familiar voice sounded from behind.
Su Juan turned to see Yu Zhong walking over.
Yu Zhong followed her gaze and looked down. The scene was peaceful, and the laughter of children could be heard, "When we first arrived, Xu State was full of deserted civilians, food prices were exorbitant, and while the wealthy merchants drank and feasted, the common people died on the streets from cold and hunger."
Su Juan sighed, "Yes, seeing it then made me realize that the peace we see now wasn't easily achieved."
