Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Classmate, That's Not Period Pain—It's Appendicitis

"Is something serious happening at the school?"

Su Bingbing looked at the long queue outside the school clinic and mumbled.

Back in her university days, she had never seen such a long line, not even at the school cafeteria.

What are these students queuing for at the school clinic?

Chen Mu looked seriously at the long queue outside the clinic, lightly shook his head, and said, "I don't think it's something serious; rather, something we don't know about has happened."

"Although a few of these students look pale, it's only a minority."

"Instead of guessing here, we should take the initiative."

Take the initiative?

How to take the initiative?

Before Su Bingbing could figure out Chen Mu's intention, she saw the young school doctor already carrying a medical kit, moving towards the crowd in the queue.

Many of the university students in line became increasingly excited when they saw a man in a white coat approaching.

"This must be the legendary Dr. Chen! I can't believe he's our school doctor; he looks so young!"

"So what if he's young? He's got real skills—he can even relieve period pain!"

"This queue is so long; I wonder if I can get back before the dorm closes at night."

As Chen Mu approached the queue of students.

He caught bits of the conversation among the students.

Looking speechless, he asked, "So, you all heard that I can relieve your period pain, and that's why you queued here at the clinic?"

Seeing the university students nodding in unison, Chen Mu couldn't help but sigh.

Conservatively estimated.

There were at least a few hundred students queuing outside his clinic.

How could these students be so gullible?

Looking at the long queue, Su Bingbing was also a bit bewildered and couldn't help but ask those university students, "Are so many of you on your period now? Are you all having period cramps?"

Can it be such a coincidence?

Hearing Su Bingbing's question,

a lot of university students in the crowd shook their heads in unison.

Then, they began speaking up all at once.

"Actually, I'm not having period pain; I was just nearby and thought I'd join the queue."

"Although I'm not on my period yet, I thought I'd see if I could get some adjustments."

"I'm not uncomfortable at all; I just wanted to witness the amazing skills of our school doctor and see if he can tell what time I sleep."

"..."

Chen Mu was really starting to get a headache.

"I see it now—these students aren't really sick; they just want to join the fun."

"They're just here for the excitement, but Dr. Chen is genuinely having to work overtime!"

"The problem is, if a student who really needs treatment comes, won't they be delayed by this crowd?"

"There's no need to worry about that; you can always trust the quality of today's university students—they'll be sure to make room for those who need it more."

"So, is it a world where only Dr. Chen gets hurt?"

"No, there's also my Bingbing and the cameraman; if Dr. Chen doesn't get off work, they can't either."

"..."

Seeing Chen Mu silently heading towards the clinic.

Su Bingbing quickly caught up with him, "Dr. Chen, I thought you were going to persuade them to go back."

Chen Mu sighed, "It's impossible to persuade them; even if they leave tonight, they'll come back to queue at the clinic entrance as soon as they think of it."

"And queuing itself has a kind of magical allure for university students."

"Maybe they have no need for something, yet seeing others in line, they can't suppress their curiosity and join in."

"So even if you temporarily persuade some people to leave, as long as there are people at the clinic entrance, this line could last until tomorrow morning without being a surprise."

Listening to what Chen Mu said,

a look of sudden realization appeared on Su Bingbing's face.

Although Dr. Chen doesn't appear proactive in his work, he truly understands the mindset of university students.

After arriving at the office building, Su Bingbing couldn't resist glancing back at the queue.

Thinking about how Chen Mu had to see all these people one by one, her head felt like it was going to explode.

"Dr. Chen, are you really going to stay up all night and examine them all one by one?"

If so, she wouldn't get any sleep tonight either?

With his hands in the pockets of his white coat, Chen Mu responded, "Staying up all night isn't necessary. Three hours at most, and then they'll naturally disperse."

Su Bingbing didn't ask why.

She simply had an almost blind faith in Chen Mu's predictions.

Upon reaching the clinic,

Chen Mu took off his white coat, grabbed a cleaner one from the closet, and put it on.

He began calling in the first student in line for a consultation.

Chen Mu: "What's the problem?"

A female student glanced shyly in the direction of the filming camera and then softly said, "Doctor, I'm having period pain. I heard you do acupuncture to relieve it."

Chen Mu pointed to the small hand pillow in front of him, "Put your hand here, and I'll check your pulse."

A moment later.

Chen Mu didn't even take out his acupuncture kit; he just looked steadily at the girl in front of him and asked, "Have you taken painkillers like ibuprofen?"

The girl's face turned pale as she shook her head, "No."

Chen Mu frowned, "It's not your first time going through this. You know the pain level is beyond your tolerance. Why didn't you take any painkillers?"

Her stomach was already hurting so much.

Hearing Chen Mu's overly serious tone made her eyes well up with tears from grievance.

"I heard that taking painkillers like ibuprofen isn't good for the body, so I try to avoid them if I can."

Chen Mu sighed, "It's true that these meds shouldn't be taken long-term, but taking them once or twice a month isn't much of an issue. I'll give you acupuncture now, and I'll send you off with a couple of ibuprofen tablets. Take them if you're still in pain when you get back."

"Thank you, Dr. Chen..."

Several girls had the same condition as the first girl.

They were in so much pain but refused to take ibuprofen.

"Doctor, doctor."

"There's a girl who fainted from period pain back there. Maybe you should see her first."

Chen Mu was in the middle of prescribing meds for a girl when two other girls burst in.

Upon hearing what they said, Chen Mu's expression changed, and he quickly got up and ran outside.

Fainting from period pain?

If it's really that severe, mere pain relief won't suffice. Once her period's over, she'll need to get a TCM prescription to brew.

As soon as Chen Mu stepped out of the clinic, he saw the girl who had fainted, according to the students.

Just as he approached, the fainted girl had already woken up by herself.

But as Chen Mu tried to help her up, she was still in too much pain to stand.

With no other choice,

Chen Mu brought over a stretcher and had the girl lie on it.

"Does it hurt here?"

"I don't think so..."

"How about here?"

"Doctor, I'm dying from the pain, but I don't think it's here either..."

"Here?"

"Doctor! It hurts! It really hurts here!"

"..."

Chen Mu withdrew his hand silently, looking at the girl's expressions with a peculiar look, "Can't you even tell if you're on your period or not?"

"This isn't period pain at all; it's acute appendicitis."

"Is there a friend of hers here? Go to the next room and find Driver He—he should still be on duty. Have him take you to the hospital. This appendicitis is pretty serious; perforation isn't out of the question!"
