Duke Magnus stood up so quickly his chair nearly toppled backward, excitement clear on his face. Lord Corvin actually smirked, looking pleased and almost proud. Lady Brenna nodded with satisfaction, and Lord Eamon's stern expression softened into something like approval.
They were all appreciating me, thanking me, expressing their gratitude and relief that I'd agreed to fight with them.
But I barely heard any of it.
My focus was already shifting forward, to the next fifteen days, to everything I'd need to learn and master before the empire's knights arrived at our gates.
"We'll find all the necessary books and materials," Duke Magnus said eagerly. "Everything we have on Null Omegas, everything our ancestors collected before the empire destroyed most of the records. We'll bring them to you as soon as possible."
