Summer Lowell nodded and said calmly, "I know doing this will spark more speculation, but I have a clear conscience. I hope President Norris can believe in me too."
Noah looked at her, his gaze lingering.
"Alright, there's nothing else. Go ahead and get back to work," Noah waved her off, then remembered something and reminded her in a flat tone, "For now, it's just the branch's higher-ups being passive-aggressive with you, but you have to be aware that it won't be long before headquarters finds out. Those people are already dissatisfied with you, and if they find out... well, I don't need to say more about the consequences, do I?"
Summer fell silent.
She understood what Noah meant. If headquarters found out about her lingering ties with Maxim Sinclair, they would definitely not allow her to continue serving as the branch's design director.
Bitterly, Summer forced a smile, her face pale after a long pause: "Yes, I understand."
