Sienna Thornton finished speaking and noticed Simon Forrester was still staring blankly into space. She poked his chest with a smile. "Were you listening?"
Simon seized the opportunity to grab her hand, holding it against his chest. He laughed, "You studied law, so how are you so professional in business management as well?"
Sienna pointed to herself. "Am I professional?"
Simon nodded. "Technically, that's Gavin's area of expertise, but he didn't say anything. Instead, you spoke with some foresight."
"As your subordinate, Gavin won't speak unless asked. Showing off in front of the boss is something only foolish subordinates do. But I'm not your subordinate, so of course I'm brave enough to speak up!"
Simon leaned closer, pushing her back into the couch's depths with a smile. "If you're not my subordinate, then what are you to me?"
He intended to make her say, "I'm your wife," but she raised her chin with a regal air and declared, "I'm your master!"
