Headache.
Wen Ranchen suddenly opened his eyes. It was still dark outside the tent, but he could no longer sleep.
It's been like this for the past two years. His sleep is very light, easily waking, and once awake, he wouldn't fall back asleep but sit in silence until daybreak.
No other reason.
It's because Wen Ranchen is afraid of dreaming.
He's afraid of dreaming about Shen Jingxian, the person he longs for day and night, afraid he's too happy in the dream, only to wake up to a reality he can no longer face due to despair.
The letters that Shen Jingxian left him, he used to read them, following the instructions to eat well, but later, the warmth in those letters only pushed him into a deeper abyss.
He can't see an exit, with darkness all around him, and the occasional light is just a cruel joke of fate, briefly appearing only to further make him aware of his own emptiness, and change nothing for him.
