Chapter 6 - Chapter 2: Awakening Today

Xu Chunliang quickly familiarized himself with his current living environment and swiftly adapted to his new identity.

Recognizing reality is the only way to live in the present.

Although the past held things worth cherishing and people worth missing, it was not enough of a reason for him to return. Even as the Five Poison Sect Leader, ranked among the nine greatest martial artists with Grandmaster skills, he never possessed the Divine Power to shatter the void and traverse dimensions, let alone now, when he has nearly lost all his martial abilities.

At five in the morning, he followed his routine of meditation. After experiencing such a tribulation, he was almost no different from an ordinary person, and had to start training from scratch. Fortunately, he remembered the past martial arts classics, and luckily, he had mastery over the Heart Method. He believed that with time, he could restore his former glory.

Even though he was a martial arts prodigy rarely seen in a century, he had fallen into the state of heart demons three times while practicing the "Tongtian Codex." If not for relying on the Five Poison Sect's secret toxic scriptures to combat the evil with toxins, he would have long been trapped by heart demons, had his meridians severed, and met with an untimely death.

Having learned from past lessons, he would not dare to rush in his reconstruction in this life.

The "Tongtian Codex" is a supreme Divine Power secret manual, divided into three volumes and nine levels. Achieving complete mastery allows one to shatter the void and ascend to the Saint Realm.

Xu Chunliang only managed to practice up to the Third Realm before the news leaked. The nine orthodox sects, under the guise of eradicating evil and upholding justice, joined forces to besiege him. At the root of it, it was nothing more than coveting the martial world treasure, the "Tongtian Codex," in his possession.

Both sides battled atop Kunlun Peak, with rivers of blood and countless casualties.

If not for the thunderstorm yesterday, I might have perished together with those virtuous hypocrites posing as righteous gentlemen.

Xu Chunliang slowly exhaled, and despite it being summer, the white breath was still visible, extending half a foot before dispersing rapidly into the void.

Opening his eyes and seeing the rapidly fading breath in the air, Xu Chunliang sighed inwardly. He hadn't even reached the first realm of gathering qi without dispersion. With his current skills, he wondered when he would restore his former divine abilities.

He got dressed, stood up, and went to the study room next door. Within one night, he had completely assimilated the two different sets of memories, inheriting all of Xu Cong's understanding of this world.

The study was tightly concealed by curtains. When he drew them open, the orange morning light outside flooded the room instantly.

The room was divided into two areas, separated by a bookshelf. The smaller area to the east was his study area. The bookshelf housed various educational materials, and the desk was a mess. Some ripped textbooks were on the floor, a reminder of the owner's irrational actions due to emotions running high after failing the college entrance exams.

The larger area to the west belonged to his grandfather, Xu Changshan. The bookshelf mostly contained traditional Chinese medicine classics, along with some national culture classics.

Xu Chunliang walked over to his desk, bent over, and picked up the books from the floor. The ones severely damaged were directly thrown into the trash bin.

In the corner of the room was a mobile phone, its screen cracked, but fortunately still usable. The small device contained a wealth of information.

The world is vast and endless. In yesterday's world, Xu Chunliang had vanished, and in today's world, Xu Cong began to awaken from yesterday.

Footsteps sounded behind him. Xu Changshan, accustomed to waking early for many years, had already finished his morning exercises in the park and, noticing his grandson had woken up, came over to take a look.

The old man had tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep. If his grandson had no deep-seated yearnings, he would not have insisted on repeating the college entrance exams for three consecutive years. Given their family's situation, studying abroad was the most feasible option. His son, Xu Jiaxuan, was willing to cover all the expenses for studying abroad, but the stubborn boy just wouldn't agree.

Deep down, Xu Changshan couldn't bear to part with his grandson either. If Chunliang went abroad, he would truly become an isolated and lonely old man.

All three of his children had successful careers, but none of them stayed in Dongzhou. They only returned to visit during festive occasions. Whenever he thought of this, the old man had some selfish thoughts, wishing he had insisted on at least one of them inheriting the family tradition. Now, he didn't even have someone to consult with when matters arose.

Despite having children who graduated from top universities and became elite professionals, receiving praise from neighbors for his excellent parenting, it was all just fleeting reputation. The more capable the children, the farther they went. At his age, shouldn't he be enjoying domestic bliss with a big family?

Fortunately, he had this grandson beside him. What happened yesterday had frightened the old man immensely. In his seventies, facing the grief of losing a close relative was unbearable. Because of this, he abandoned his long-standing persistence, agreeing to the condition of Huichun Hall's demolition in exchange for his grandson's stable job.

After learning about Xu Changshan's demolition condition, several high-ranking officials at Changxing Hospital immediately held a small meeting and made a decision in less than half an hour.

Although many people participated in the discussion, the final decision rested with the director, Gu Houyi.

Gu Houyi is retiring next year, and launching the second phase of Changxing Hospital's expansion project before leaving is his greatest wish. He was a homegrown cadre of Changxing Hospital, deeply attached to this hospital, and wanted to do something for its future development before leaving.

Huichun Hall was like a thorn in his heart. Although Xu Changshan's condition was somewhat overstepping, shedding some blood to remove this thorn was inevitable.

A concession is a concession. With over a thousand employees at Changxing Hospital, there are quite a few idlers, so having another one wouldn't matter.
