Morning classes began.
Hiratsuka-sensei introduced the transfer student, Nishimiya Shouko.
Nishimiya Naoko wrote her name on the blackboard and nervously signed, ("Please give me your guidance.")
Then, except for Akira Fujimiya, everyone stood up and responded with the same, ("Please give me your guidance,") in sign language.
Nishimiya Shouko was stunned for a moment.
Then she turned and looked at Hiratsuka Shizuka.
Shizuka-sensei smiled slightly, patted her head, and pointed toward Akira's seat.
Nishimiya Shouko realized that her seat had been placed next to Akira's.
She walked down from the podium, noticing the curious eyes and kind smiles of her classmates.
Her heart warmed at the warm welcome.
She knew this arrangement must have been done by Hiratsuka-sensei.
Nishimiya Shouko walked to Akira's side and sat by the window. Akira took the seat beside her.
The front row had single seats while the other rows were doubles.
The class settled down after sometime, and the lesson officially began.
Nishimiya Shouko focused on the blackboard seriously.
Even though she couldn't hear, she could understand the lesson Hiratsuka-sensei was giving.
While Hiratsuka-sensei wrote on the board, Shouko nervously glanced at Akira beside her.
When she saw the light novel in his hand, her eyes widened.
Akira was reading a light novel during class?
Hesitating for a moment, Shouko took out the notebook Akira had bought her, wrote a line of words, and pushed it toward him.
Akira still focus on his novel, pretended not to notice.
Shouko narrowed her eyes, tugged at the corner of his clothes.
Akira stretched out his hand without glancing at her or the notebook and gently placed it on Shouko's leg.
Stunned, a blush spread across her cheeks.
She wanted to move his hand, but couldn't bring herself to do it.
Akira finally look at the notebook and wrote a line below her's, before focusing on his novel.
Shouko read it and shook her head, signing that the classroom wasn't a place for that and that if someone noticed, it could implicate Hiratsuka-sensei.
Akira wrote another line.
Shouko blushed heightened after reading and nodded slowly.
He finally put the light novel aside with one hand while keeping his other hand on her leg, eyes now on the blackboard.
Shouko's face turned slightly red as she stole glances at Akira while trying to focus on the lesson.
Akira had wrote two lines: the first asking Shouko to kiss him, the second… he didn't want to move his hand away.
Shouko agreed silently to the second line.
....
During lunch break,
Only a few girls had approached Shouko, wanting to get to know her.
Akira asked Hayama Hayato about Hiratsuka-sensei's instructions from yesterday afternoon.
Hiratsuka-sensei's instructions were not that hard—
First, she would be teach sign language to them, which she had to memorize (simple sign language). No one could forget:- Hi, Good morning, etc.
Second, Hiratsuka-sensei had made it clear that the boys weren't allowed to disturb Shouko, not even with words.
If Hiratsuka-sensei discovered anyone else talking to Shouko, that person would face her fists.
The boys didn't dare approach Shouko at all, not even Totsuka.
Among the students, a rumor were also circulated: Hiratsuka-sensei's father was a high-ranking official in the Metropolitan Police Department.
This news had been spread by Hayama Hayato, who knew Hiratsuka-sensei's identity. Before doing so, he had asked her permission.
Hiratsuka-sensei tacitly agreed. Since, if not her's then her father reputation would be able to protect Shouko.
Hearing this, Akira glanced at Shouko, who was smiling softly.
In such a world, every simple encounter brought her warmth.
The world, indeed, was kind—meeting Hiratsuka-sensei, and now…
'Is this the miracle for her?' Akira thought to himself — Maybe it is.
Shouko sensed his gaze and stood, apologizing to the girls around her.
To prevent misunderstandings, she wrote (/"I'm sorry"/) in her notebook.
Several girls glanced at Akira, understanding her message.
Shouko returned to Akira with her lunch box, as she smile at him.
Hayama glanced at her before tactfully walking away.
Akira raised his hand and patted her head, before walking out of the classroom with Shouko by his side.
The scene of them walking together had been witnessed by others, but no one dared discuss it.
If Hiratsuka-sensei heard, it would be no small matter.
Of course, another reason existed: most sympathized with Shouko's situation.
At this point, gossiping about her and Akira would have been cruel.
As students, they understood what was appropriate to say and what wasn't, so they simple decided to ignore it and walked away after nodding at each other.
Hayama observed the class and felt relieved.

Inside Service Club—
It was Shouko's first time visiting the Service Club.
Yukinoshita Yukino gave a brief introduction about the club, its members and what they do.
Of course—she dismissed Akira without a glance as she took Shouko hands to atart their "Girl" talk.
He nodded towards Shouko who was glancing at him, before taking his leave.
Since, it was inappropriate for him to attend a girls' gathering.
While, leaving he didn't notice Yukino secretly glancing at his back, as her lips curl up in an amused smile.

Inside the Student Council room—
When he arrived, the first thing he noticed was Meguri Shiromeguri, seated on the sofa, smiled at him.
"Shiromeguri-Senpai , Yukino said I wasn't needed in the girls' gathering," Akira said as he sat on the sofa, his voiced filled with mocked sadness as if complaining.
"Is Shouko over there too?" Meguri asked.
"Well, she needs friends," Akira replied.
"I think everyone in the Service Club is gentle and perfect to be Shouko's friend. I want to be her friend too," Meguri said softly.
"Senpai isn't gentle enough,"
"Huh?" Meguri looked confused.
"Senpai, you should be more proactive if you see me as your boyfriend," Akira said seriously.
"Fujimiya-kun…" Meguri blushed, as she lowered her head.
He didn't say anything as he opened the lunch box and looked at her.
Meguri noticing his glance, quickly opened hers.
Akira picked up a piece of fried chicken from her lunch box and eat it.
Meguri looked at him, nervously, awaiting his evaluation for her dish.
When Akira finished eating, he shook his head.
"Not tasty?" Meguri asked nervously, that carried a hint pf sadness.
"If you hadn't prepared it for me, the taste would indeed be a little off," Akira said seriously.
Meguri immediately understood. As She picked another piece of chicken and offered it to him.
After he finished, he nodded and shared some side dishes with her.
They began eating lunch together.

After lunch,
Meguri started playing while Akira poured two cups of black tea and listened seriously.
When she finished, Akira pointed out minor mistakes.
Meguri adjusted immediately and noticed her performance flowed much better. As she begin to play again, this time the she clearly she felt that it was much better than before. Her admiration for him increased.
"Senpai, let me play your guitar," Akira said.
"Sure," she nodded, handing her old guitar to him.
"Sit here," Akira patted the seat at front of hin
Meguri's face turned slightly red at how closed the seats were but she complied.
Akira began, holding the guitar and playing a lively piece she had taught him before. With Meguri listening to the song, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the song.
As the song neared its end, he lowered his head and kissed her.
Meguri surprise at the touch on her lips, responded boldly.
They had kiss so many times that she now know how his lips taste and feels.
The song ended abruptly, as they pulled back from the kiss, opening their eyes slowly.
Akira placed the guitar on the sofa beside him, before he open his arms, looking at the person in front.
Meguri didn't hesitate a second as she hugged his neck, embracing him confidently.
