He didn't unsheathe his sword to get away from the nails.
He had one more use left and he knew its hide was to tough to cut through without the enchantment.
So he gambled — before the sharp steel like nails sliced him like butter.

He removed the strap that held the sheathed sword onto his chest plate armour before gripping the sword with both hands.

He stabbed the sheathed sword into the ground at 90 degree angle facing the 3 wire meshed attack, The sword was like a ramp and the nails were on a forward trajectory to ride up it.
"If this doesn't work, I'm dead."

He used the last bit of energy he had and tightened his grip on the sword hilt that was embed in the sheathe.

He changed his standing posture to face the creature while his two arms were over extended to the left of his point of view.

He jumped slightly and leaned leftwards abit to face into the nail mesh

Victor still holding onto the handle of the sword while it was slowly getting launched and ripped up from the ground got launched up with it.
