In a few minutes, we were in the Kuronin's personal training grounds. The training field was massive, but it was not luxurious by any means. Except for being well-kept, it had tons of scratches, slashes, and a few parts of the walls were broken, showing its long history since its building during the time of the first Duke Kuronin.
Swords, shields, spears, bows and all sorts of weapons were lined up along the walls, making it seem like the perfect training grounds for all sorts of weapon mastery.
Well, none of that would ever be used by any mage. Well, atleast that's what everyone thought until I picked up a small wooden shield. Well, in my defense, a little extra protection never hurts.
[The Worst Fable asks if you've finally lost your mind!]
[The Most Ancient Sorrow ponders what you're planning!]
"Well, well, well! Seems like you can't exactly 'see my intentions' as you said!" I said mockingly at the message, which to others probably seemed like me blabbering toward the sky, making my parents facepalm from second hand embarrassment. They've both seen me talk to the 'humans' before, and have asked me several times if I have some sort of mental issue.
[The Worst Fable tells you that "All humans are diverse and not everyone can be understood."]
I grumble under my breath about something that even I could not understand as I opened the skill system and spent some of my 'error' amount of skills on a skill named 'Uranus', which had a 'Wind magic' attribute on it.
Yuu stood opposite of me on the training ground. He seemed like he was staring me down, though, I swear I could see his cheeks tinge a light red. Maybe it was the heat?
"Let the spar between Vynn Luo Kuronin and Yuu Olslein begin!!!" Niko shouted from the side, acting like a referee.
Without missing a beat, Niko shouted out his spell. "Spell of the Divine, Oh, Flames of Nixa! Burn everything to ashes!!" The spell made me cringe so much that I actually didn't have enough time to counter attack. But, I managed to use my shield to block it.
Hearing everyone cheer for Yuu, and hearing Duke Olslein smug chuckle made me actually feel irritated.
"Wha- How?!?!? How can you speak elven language?!?! That's supposed to be impossible!!! You haven't even met a single elf in your whole life!!" My father shouted out in a dumbfounded shock. Well, what does he expect me to say, reveal that I used to be an elf in a few of my reincarnated lives?
[The Worst Fable tells you to lie!]
[The Worst Fable says that you should tell them you got a divine revelation!]
I turn around to face my father. "I got a divine revelation a few nights ago."
The crowd immediately went silent, almost as if disturbing this silence would result in death. They all looked at the elf in shock before everyone, including the heads of every noble families, even the dukes had fallen to their knees, kneeling before him.
I remained standing, confused, before asking my father, "Dad, who is this guy?"
The party flinched at my casual tone, everyone sweating bullets. My father said to me, still kneeling down, "Vynn, this is Lord Aslinn Voshdray Humeaneratrius. He is the oldest elf alive, and the first emperor of Nuxa, ruling over our continent for over 3,000 years. He is over 15,200 years old, the oldest mortal aside from the cardinal dragons."
"So... he's basically an old grandpa who used to be emperor but lost royalty." I said simply, in my most stupidly confident tone.
"Ahem!" Mr.Aslinn coughed to cover up the insult he had just received from a kid who's supported to be 0.001% of his age. "So, Child, what do you say about my offer? Are you willing to become my disciple?"
I thought for a moment. Even if I know lots of good magic, and have been a high elf once, being his discipline gave me quite some influence. I decided agreeing was the best idea. "Of course, I must-" but I stopped myself as I saw [The Worst Fable]'s message pop up before me.
[The Worst Fable tells you to refuse!!]
"-not agree?" My voice came out as doubtful. Well, ofcourse it would. Even I'm confused here.
"Yes, I'm glad to take you-" Mr.Aslinn said before he finally processed what I just said. "Could you... repeat that?"
"Well... I refuse the offer." I said while reinforcing my voice with some confidence.
Everyone looked at me like I just grew two heads. Even Niko looked at me like I was mad, even mouthing under his breath, "Have you gone insane?"
Well, it was I who advised Niko that in reincarnations, you should always grab opportunities. Seeing me refuse this golden chance must've made me look like both a hypocrite and a fool.
To ease the awkward tension in the air, Niko pulled me toward the door by my arm. "Excuse us!", he said as he dragged me out.
