Chapter 3 - Shattered Glass

Chapter 3: Shattered Glass

Elira stood quietly by the entrance of the school rooftop, her fingers clenched tightly into the sleeves of her uniform. The wind brushed her hair back, and her heart pounded louder than it ever had before. She hadn't spoken to Zayn in days not since she told him she was pregnant.

She wanted to believe he just needed time. That he was scared. That the Zayn who had once kissed her forehead and whispered sweet nothings hadn't completely vanished.

But now, everything felt cold. Especially him.

She had asked him to meet her up here to talk, just the two of them.

Footsteps echoed behind her. She turned quickly.

It was him.

Zayn walked toward her, his hands in his pockets, face unreadable as always. He looked tired, angry and distant.

"Elira," he said flatly.

Her voice trembled. "Thanks for coming."

"You said it was important."

She took a breath. "It is. I need you to at least listen to me."

"I've been listening," he interrupted, jaw tight. "But all I hear is drama, clinging and lies."

Her eyes widened. "Lies?"

Zayn scoffed. "You expect me to believe you're pregnant? That it's mine? You just want attention."

The words hit her like a slap.

"I'm not lying," she whispered, hand instinctively touching her stomach. "You were there, Zayn. It was real. I didn't make this up."

He stepped forward, towering over her now, frustration leaking from every word. "Why would you even keep it? Do you know how much this could ruin my life? My family's name?"

"I wasn't thinking about your name, I was thinking about our child!" she cried. "I'm scared, Zayn. I needed you. I still do."

But his eyes had gone cold.

"You're just trying to trap me," he muttered. "You think having my baby makes you important?"

Elira felt her vision blur with tears.

"That's not fair," she whispered. "I loved you"

"Stop saying that!" he snapped suddenly, voice echoing across the rooftop.

And then it happened.

He shoved her not hard, but enough.

She stumbled backward.

Her foot caught the edge of a loose tile.

And she fell.

The world tilted. Her body hit the cold cement. Pain exploded through her side.

And then everything went black.

Zayn stood frozen, staring at her crumpled figure on the ground, her face pale, her hands limp.

He hadn't meant to harm her

"Elira?" he whispered, his voice shaking.

Blood.

There was blood.

He panicked, backing away, his breath catching in his throat. A student nearby had seen and screamed.

People started running. Teachers were called. An ambulance arrived.

Zayn watched from the shadows.

And then he ran.

Hours later, at the hospital…

Elira's mother sat in the waiting room, her hands shaking as a doctor approached.

"She's stable," the doctor said softly. "But I'm sorry… she lost the baby."

The world crumbled around her.

Inside the room, Elira lay unconscious, pale and fragile under white sheets.

That same night, in another part of the city…

Zayn sat in his room, legs bouncing, hands trembling. His twin brother, Zion, stood across from him, arms crossed, silent.

"What happened Zayn you are not okay"he asked

"I pushed Elira and she fell.she was pregnant with my baby" Zayn replied

"You what?" Zion asked, voice low and dangerous.

"I didn't mean to push her," Zayn muttered. "I was angry, okay? I didn't think she'd fall.

"She was pregnant," Zion snapped. "With your child and you let her fall?"

Zayn buried his face in his hands. "I didn't know what to do."

Zion turned away, disgusted. "You don't deserve her."

"I know."

Zion paused. "What's her full name?"

"Why?"

"Because someone has to make this right. And if you won't… I will."

Zayn looked up. "You're not serious."

Zion didn't reply.

He was already searching her name online.

Elira deserved better.

And Zion was going to be the one to give it to her.
